Why You Aren’t Happy – Dr. Abraham Twerski On Happiness & Fulfillment

Pursuit of Wonder | November 15, 2025

Certainly happiness can seem complex and multilayered, but here, Twerski offers a lucid and simple idea for us to consider when trying to grasp the ever elusive concept of happiness.

This video is transformative in nature and is intended for educational purposes. Therefore, it falls under fair use.

I would like examples of people without talents.
    Although I get the idea,
It's hard to relate to all these videos when people have already a passion, a talent, a hobby or vocation, however you want to call it.
Some of us don't have a talent, and warehouse jobs are always going to be a thing.

Happiness is in a way over coming your situation in life whatever it is and transcend the material things of life and the superficial and gain a experience and knowing of hats really going on before judgements. Just the truth of what life’s meaning is and in some ways you can say we are doing exactly hat we are supposed to do but as far as humans we can expand our minds and consciousness using meditations, ceremonial drugs, yoga, and many many other practices. But when u have no money no teacher, ho do u transcend. Without years of spiritual growth and self observing and questioning, how do we gain this transcendence? This is society’s problem Nd so humans problem. There’s no teachers. Nothing is free not even gaining teachings mean for all humans to take away suffering. But now without a lot of money o unless ur lucky enough to live near a free spiritual center/temples and have access to real teachers focused on service not money or celebrity o have cash to travel to these places . Most of society is without teachers, mentors, places of teaching. If everyone had access to this how much would violence go down and happiness go up? Idk let’s try it and see

But my passion is limited. It's astronomy and a few other things. But I live in the city, and I can't just move out to a dark place. We are RESTRICTED in the 21st century to NOT be able to pursue our passions.

I agree with this video/talk in some sense, however, there is an increasing trend towards the glorified idea of "following your passion". What if you don't know what your passion is? What if instead of an intrinsic natural talent you become passionate because you were dedicated to the pursuit of the thing that you do and over time it became you? I feel that there is an unfortunate consequence to the idea of pursuing a flourishing life, and that is, that it creates a sense of discontentment with the status quo and fuels the fire of wanting "something else" which plays right into the hands of the concept of desire. Anyway, this all sounds a bit highbrow, better that you look out the window and focus on all the free gifts of life. It is a beautiful thing.
