"Piles of (unused) spices" lmao. I love referring to Tipu as having a Special Interest because man was like I am with rats. That was either a neurodivergent man with a hyperfixation, or someone with so much commitment to the bit as to be actually insane.

The Americans are not the only ones unaware of Tipu Sultan's role in their independence struggle, Indians today are equally ignorant of his role in their independence struggle. His contribution has been deliberately erased from Indian history.

After all those centuries, America went on to "use" muslim warriors, tribes, their loyalties, score boards…. not just their inspirational stories, but armed them against the soviets, and supported them across central and south Asia. Really gives you pause for thought about what has happened since the cold war in Afghanistan, then Pakistan…. And now it fully supports a new muslim "sultan" (but very far apart from Tipu's legacy and character), the self coronated field marshal of Pakistan. I wonder when saner alliances will be forged and the balance of humanity restored.

Tipu probably would have won if not for the betrayal of Mir Sadiq and Mir Nadim. And he wasn't fighting the British only, he was fighting the Marathas and the Nizam of Hyderabad.

It's great to see a presentation of a lesser known bit of American Revolutionary history, but the constant injection of this "Hello, fellow kids" idiocy transforms the entire thing into insufferable, trite idiocy.

Respect your audience enough to speak to them like adults.

I have read a lot on Tippu Sultan and East India Company. After the disaster in America Cornwallis was asked to go and take in charge of Governor general of Madras in India as they felt they needed some one really good to take on Tippu after second Anglo-Mysore War. Pitts and Dundas (Then PM of Britain and a Scottish Politician) tried to convince Cornwallis, but Cornwallis initially refused and said unless they combine authority of Governar General and Commander in chief he won't go. Finally they did combine those legal powers that made Cornwallis to come to Madras. Once he reached here he once again saw same old foes – French because of whom he had lost America. That made even more convinced that unless French influence is not removed in Indian subcontinent, British authority will always be uncertain.

What are your credentials sir? You keep referring to those Europeans as Americans, but the Boston Tea Party took place in 1773 over 2 years before even the Declaration of Independence.

You said Americans dressed in highly problematic… Americans being jargon for United States citizens, the United States didn't exist yet. You should have said Europeans, sir. Which they still are, but back then weren't citizens of a country which didn't exist yet.

I am from Mysore. Tipu sultan was a typical genocidal Abrahamic invader – we Mysoreans finally butchered Tipu Sultan after strategically allying with the French (not really friends, just a convenient alliance) & he died a dog's death.

This is why India even today has a military relationship with France over Britain or USA.

Rather problematic costumes?!?! Come on PBS…we have moved past this in our culture…by leaving out the fact the were dressed as Indians you are mixing tons of context and meaning behind the story. Oh wait "Indian" is racist now right? How could I be so inconsiderate? What I meant were Nobel Redmen Savages. There we go much better

Shaheed Sultan Tippu was the One whose efforts to export and display products of Mysore Sultanate (Now in Karnataka State) in the International Trade Exhibition in Karachi during his Rule.
SOME OF THESE were SILK PRODUCTS,Silk Shawls, SANDALWOOD PRODUCTS, Sandal oil Indigenously invented and developed Rockets etc were displayed to market them internationally and bring income for the Government. Who would benefit from these brilliant initiatives. All people in Mysore Sultanate, Muslims, Hindus and others, I mean whoever is skilled and involved in the above mentioned industries, they would all get a chance to make their life better and contribute to their future generations' development.

By making Tippu Sultan Shahid, by the help of some Indian hostile neighbouring Kings, who were more interested in preserving their own kingdoms didn't see to this reality that British were like maneater tigers and one day these kings will be toppled, murdered or banished from their lands or put in the cages in some prisons.

Tippu Sultan earned a Shahid Status while those kings never recovered their izzat nor their lands. British were everywhere across the world after this win over Tipu Sultan.

Then here the hidden secret should be known. In 150 years after defeat of Tippu Sultan by treacherous officers and the British deceipt, no son or a ruler came to establish a strong opposition or a challenge to uproot British and show them the return path to Britain.

It took india 150 years to realise it's freedom. But if it wasn't for the beating by the Hitler of Germany in Ww2, Britain wouldn't have come to a dying state and that made them at the mercy of America. Then they had to abandon their bases like India and others, and settle to down to the original status

When George Washington defeated Cornwallis he was given a new assignment by the British Empire to exploit the Indian subcontinent in their interests.

Cornwallis commanded British forces during the American Revolution. He is most remembered for surrendering to the combined American and French armies led by George Washington and Comte de Rochambeau at the Siege of Yorktown in Virginia.
That surrender in 1781 effectively ended major fighting and led to American independence

Things haven’t changed a bit. Today the US , deep state , terrorist state (paxtan) are doing the same thing. They support the Muslim league party Khangress to derail current stable government.

    😂😂
An Islamic Jihadi Tyrant who butchered Hindus and Christians like no one else.
And how did he became the King of that region by attacking and imprisoning those very same people who saved him and gave them a space to live.

    Can't trust a mallecha.

I am from bangalore a place where tipu sultan was born, and tipu sultan has become a polarising figure, a hero to some and a villain to others. But no one has ever denies his feats of putting mysore at a stage that no one else has.
