The Bible is no more inherently trustworthy than any other collection of folk myths. The folkish ideas found elsewhere on the planet that don't even rise above the race, culture, or time period in which they were constructed do not even qualify as intelligent, let alone should be venerated as coming from some omnimax entity. These other "holy" texts overflowing with dogmatic statements written down by people who did not, and could not, empirically establish their authority, are just as "trustworthy", that is to say, not at all. There is no reason to care about their minor religious problems if the very foundation has no evidence, no root, no seed, nothing. That is all religion is: a barren field.

I'm an ex muslim from Singapore i left Islam not because of the Bible but the Quran and Sahih Hadis forced me to do so.
The deeper you deep dive into the Quran and Sahih Hadis especially in Arabic texts the more fairy tales and garbage emerge

God created the heavens, earth, the seas and all that is in them, and He has rights to kill that man does not. He has a sovereignty that man does not and He is not created by someone else.
Yet man who is obsessed with sacrificing babies to the devil in th comment section find it in their hypocritical double standard living think it is not right for God to command killing babies in war along with the whole family.
These are the same people who were excited that Charlie Kirk got murdered and cheered it on and wish for conservatives who defeat their arguments to get murdered too. They call Trump Hitler, knowing that puts a target on his back although His rulership has no contextual apples to apples comparisons to make about it.
I could keep going on and on. You guys don't rrslly have any moral standards except a double standard most of the time from what I have been seeing. You cannot compare a holy, wise, just, God our Creator and LORD with filthy baby murderers, foolish hypocrites pretending to be wise, sexually immoral, mental illness having people, who are insolent to humanity and dishonorable people. You need your knowledge and understanding of what is right, or wrong thinking, good and evil to be very much fine tuned by the God who inspired the Bible ultimately. Your intellect is made corrupt by your own immorality to begin with. You are starting off with fillthy thinking, and a life of practicing evil trying to take the moral highground. Firs take a look at yourself, then work from there.

I have a different take. The O.T. is just backstory for what the Jews held to be their history. Like the Greeks where Paul cites their memorial to an unknown God, and Alex's reference of Bible Jesus did not necessarily agree to all that he quoted from. Jesus only wanted to replace Adam as the new beginning and create a world where we are not held accountable for our ancestors sins. The Epistles are just post Christ commentary letters from apostles to churches. Christianity is the gospels which does not have contradictions only perspective differences which tends more to affirm one another for the fact that they are slightly different. If accounts were identical they would be more suspect. Other apologists amply handle gospel challenges. Also, Alex's claim that Jesus did not claim to be God is weak because He did not correct the Jews when it could have saved His life.

One should never forget, when considering the truthfulness of fairy tale books, that one is indeed considering the truthfulness of fairy tale books.
Someone asked:
"Why does God hide himself so well then?"
I replied:
“Our universe came into being quite naturally after a Big Bang and wasn't conjured up by magic. The Bible speaks of a disk at the center of the universe. Above it is a firmament to which stars are nailed or otherwise attached. So, something that absolutely does not correspond to our Earth.
Psalm 93:1; The earth is firm and will not move, Revelation 7:1; After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, Genesis 1-6:6; and God called the vastness Heaven.
Surely there is another universe somewhere that was conjured up by some god. In any case, we live on a sphere in a solar system. And this sphere revolves around the sun, not the other way around. We also don't have any fantastical beings like angels, elves, unicorns, devils, gods, or holy spirits. Those only exist in horror novels. Or in other universes.
But something creepy does seem to have happened. Someone has gone through a
black hole, has entered our universe and is now confusing people with magic stories and fairy tales. So if you're looking for a god here, that's what will happen to you. Your brain will be confused. There are already enough of them around. So watch out.
I'm already looking for a black hole to send that guy back.

Actually god already has answers to this. He hides the truth and only show it to the believers through holy spirit. And let those who found the real meanings of the bible teach others who would willingly listen with faith. And this is all god's plan. I am just as curious (well not same) as alex and god almost every answer i wanted through church, youtube, by praying, talking to other believers and so on. You can't get all the answers from reading only the literate bible. There are riddles and metaphores and hidden truth and also things you can't understand without understanding some interconnecting truth from various chapters from various authors. And also without the knowledge of history, some you can't understand. You gotta pray to god to let you understand god's meanings with bible. and let holy spirit inside you to understand bible. then god will let you have the change to understand. It is grace. Not your knowledge only. It is god's grace and god's plan. Alex will someday understand if he let god inside him and pray to him sincerely for answers. He will understand and finally bow before god for his love and plans. And will know bible is truth and reliable and nothing in it is false or inaccurate. it is word of god and it is all true.
