Hey, settle something for us — were you Team “Tony and Angela should’ve gotten married” or Team “Danza was right to shut it down”? That finale still lives rent-free in so many of our heads.

The stories during the final season were so bad that I quit watching. I'm glad that Mona wasn't spun-off to a show of her own.
"The Ropers" and "Joanie Loves Chachi" are two examples of spin-offs that shouldn't have been made.

From the first episode I found the title “Who’s the Boss?” to be stupid AND insulting.

Tony was employee. He was always her employee. Angela was always the boss. She was the boss at home and outside her home. She was president of her own advertising agency. To imply she wasn’t the boss belittled her accomplishments and the accomplishments of other women. This was a show that supposedly was in support of women.

No one was going to do a gay boy character in the 80’s. Not saying it’s right, but the kid should’ve been advised to keep his sexuality private, not announce it to the world. They could’ve continued to do stories where Jonathan was dating girls, he didn’t have to push to have a gay kid storyline. He brought that on himself. AGAIN… not saying it was right, but it was the times and it was understood.

I grew up watching Who's the Boss? I even had a crush on Alyssa Milano, But to me the idea of them getting married was never an issue. They worked together, just the way they wear. If they wanted to get married, cool. But, if they didn't that was cool too. I much preferred it when they did episode like the one where Tony ended up joining the Mother's support group for moms that couldn't say no. Or the one where he got sucked into acting in a shampoo commercial, only to find out that 1 he was a bad actor, and 2 there was something wrong with the shampoo, and the company knew it.

the show was at its best when they were able to use the fish out of water trope to have the very masculine Tony and the classy Angela bouncing off each other and the different worlds they grew up in a ways that told us something about them, or those worlds.

I can understand ABC getting cold feet in regards to Danny Pintauro, as I remember the grief over Tony Randall's character in "Love, Sydney" being gay and NBC got a lot of static over that.

In the 1980s, kids were not going to be gay on TV and regular characters. And had a teen character come out on "who's the the boss" it would actually have 'proven' that having a strong mother and a weak father figure would 'turn' the kid gay. The 80s were a whole different world.

As a kid in the 80s who watched the show, Pintaro’s sexuality never entered my mind. It was a different time. I did think he was a cute little kid but a whiny and annoying actor as he got older. I remember talking to people about how we just didn’t find him to be good and didn’t really enjoy watching him. That could have had something to do with less screen time in my opinion.
