What If We Turned Plastic Into Fuel?

What If | October 6, 2025

Plastic production is predicted to keep skyrocketing in the next ten years, and our planet is going to pay the price. But, with all that plastic being made, is it possible we could do some good with it? What if we were to use all that plastic and convert it into fuel? Could our cars run on fuel created from plastic? Could we live in plastic fueled homes?
How could we convert plastic into fuel? Would it help us? And could there be a downside?

Need there be more blood sweat and tears from the suffering of oil based petrol manufacturers, if that wasn't enough to persuade them to fight this kind of thing .
Petrol companies will literal kill double or triple the amount of people they already do to counter this kind of future movement.

WHY IN THE HELL DIDN'T THEY DO THIS BEFORE ?????? PLASTIC IS MUCH WORSE THAN POLUTING THE DAMB ENVIRONMENT!!!!!! WHAT JERKS THAT HAD STOPPED IT FROM TURNING IT INTO FUEL !!!! WE HAVE LOST MANY ANIMALS AND FISH FROM PLASTIC AND NOW ITS EVEN IN OUR OWN BODIES !!!! ENVIRONMENTALISTS ARE MORONS.

I don't understand the concept of cracking down the plastic because after all it is also using energy and the amount of fuel that you are generating is nothing in front of the energy utilized.

    Correct I'm wrong

I don't think it's a good idea. People made products that contain CFCs, which is a cause of the ozone hole. We will not know whether or not this type of fuel will harm the planet and in what way can it harm us.

Stupidity beyond belief: BECAUSE PHYSICS! NOT burning crude oil products at all is the only way to survive. Plastic to fuel just shifts the problem to the future of our children with the huge disadvantage of wasting even more energy to get the same result. Instead burning plastics we need to find a way to recycle them to near 100% with the help of renewable energy. Meaning producing nearly 100% recyclable plastics in the first place. E.g. polyethylene and polyester.

Conveniently leaving out the fact that doing this would release all of the carbon in those plastics into the atmosphere and contribute further to global warming, while simultaneously claiming that it would be "Good for the environment" is both negligent and unethical. Burning fossil fuels for energy contributes to global warming. Turning fossil fuels into plastic contributes to global warming. Turning those plastics into fuel requires energy that likely comes from fossil fuels, and contributes to global warming. And burning those fuels made from plastics that were made from fossil fuels to create energy **contributes to global warming**

This doesn't fix any problems and it doesn't reduce pollution, it just moves it from somewhere we can see it to somewhere that we can't, using the things that caused the problem in the first place to do it, increasing demand for those things and perpetuating the problem further. Intentionally or not, This video is contributing to the misinformation campaign that giants in the fossil fuel industry have been propigating for decades.

companies: "let's invest on turning plastic-to-fuel because its good for the environment!"

    CO2 emissions: StOnKs

*many forget that plastics come from fossil fuels and burning them worsens the problem.

Normally i was collecting my trash wich can burn in 60 liters bags. Everything like plastic wraps, used paper and cardboard, rubber, etc… 🔥
In the winter i was burning those bags mixed with wood to heat my house. ❄
The chimney is charging up pretty fast from the plastics but for me was like a energy recovery. 🚮🔄🔥
Now i wonder if i can use those mixed bags in this type of installation or this works only with plastic? 🤔
