What If Carbon Dioxide Pollution Was Solid Carbon Chunks? I NOVA I PBS

NOVA PBS Official | December 25, 2025

Carbon dioxide is an odorless, invisible gas. If we could see that carbon as a solid material on the ground, that might change our perspective on the amount of carbon we emit into the atmosphere. Play NOVA’s Polar Lab to see what effects all that CO2 is having on our planet’s poles: https://to.pbs.org/2In6XI4

Humans don’t “produce” carbon any more than a volcano does. CO2 is a byproduct of human existence and has been for millennia. It is a problem that must be solved in a way that does not limit human freedom. Unfortunately, most proposed solutions are authoritarian, run by tyrants in lab coats.

The narrator, Caitlin Saks, is not a scientist but a media producer by education and profession. She reveals her bias, ignorance of science, and lack of critical thinking at 00:30 when she states that atmospheric carbon comes "mainly all the carbon-based fuels we humans burn." Not true. Consider the earth's carbon cycle and that anthropogenic sources are a minor fraction of global carbon emissions. Saks may correctly claim that fossil fuel burning annually contributes 12.5 billion tons to the atmosphere but that pales in comparison to the annual 439 gigatons contributed by natural terrestrial sources in the carbon cycle. PBS Nova gets it wrong and misses the real existential threat to life on our planet. I welcome her rebuttal.

Commie propaganda looking for a money grab. New carbon tax? Don't talk to the free world. Talk to china and india. They are by far the worst polluters. Artic ice is as large as has been in the last 100 years. Lying lefties being payed off again.

So if we are to believe this ignorance and we in fact can prove our arrogance by reducing the CO2, what then happens to all the plant life on the planet that cant thrive or live without it? Seems to me everyone is jumping on this carbon dioxide is poison carnival ride without really knowing the facts and the science behind it. Then there is the claim in the 70s where the same things they are claiming today are causing excess CO2 was in fact creating carbon monoxide (CO), which we know for fact is bad for us, plants and every other living thing on earth and then there was the ozone scare claiming aerosoles were to blame for the rise in temperature. So whats next, because we seem to be regressing and the next thing these morons will try and tell us is that air is bad!

So if we’re destroying this planet it means that we’re not supposed to be here? Because other plants and animals and organisms have changed the planet before but we call it natural
