WATCH: Bradford Gille arraignment following Traverse City Walmart stabbing
Bradford Gille is expected to be arraigned Monday July 28 on charges of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder after a stabbing at the Traverse City Walmart Saturday.
In a Sunday press conference, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Mike Shea requested that Bradford Gille, 42, of Afton, Michigan, is to be charged with terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder after the stabbing at the Traverse City Walmart Saturday.
Sheriff Mike Shea at a Sunday press conference said Gille has a history of assaultive incidents and controlled substance violations. Shea described the weapon as a 3.5-inch folding knife.

There’s a lot of talk about mental illness and whether he should be in jail or a hospital etc. as the court process moves forward the prosecution defense or judge can request a competency hearing where he would be transported to the center for forensic psychiatry near Ann Arbor. He will undergo a forensic psychiatric evaluation where he will either be found competent to stand trial or incompetent. If found incompetent he will remain at the forensic center receiving treatment till either he is competent to stand trial or if incompetent till he is no longer a danger. At the point he would be discharged to a local CMH who will continue to provide treatment and supervise his release on NGRI status (not guilty by reason of insanity). This will last 5 years and during that 5 years he is still considered to be under the jurisdiction of the forensic center and can be forced to return if not following all treatment requirements and if he’s found incompetent till violation of treatment requirements that 5 years starts over. Most likely he would be released to a group home with 24/7 staff and supervision

I've hung out with Brad before. He couch surfed at a place I lived. He was saying that stuff about fiberglass being in tobacco already back then. One time I was driving down s airport rd in busy traffic and Brad was in the passenger seat and he said "I feel sick" then he rolled down the window and climbed halfway out while I was driving and started throwing up on the street with his whole torso hanging out of the car. I thought we would get pulled over for sure.

Northern Michigan needs mental health facilities to help people otherwise this will continue to happen. He is mentally ill he needs help…jail is not the answer.

He says that selling cigarettes (which we all know are poison) is akin to what he did but cigarette purchasing and smoking is voluntary, being stabbed and hospitalized is not. There is definitely something wrong with his mental state when he can't distinguish between the two.
