I was already a teen when the 80s started, and the MLP weren't out until 81 or 82, so I was never really into them. My daughter, born in early 90s, was into them but I only remember a few. I think we got them (mini sized?) in Happy Meals, too? Not sure, though.

My sister was born in 1983, 12 years before me. Whenever she would make fun of my Winnie The Pooh collection, my mom would say "Kati, if you don't stop teasing your brother, I will tell all your friends that you still have your My Little Ponies!"

When I was a kid,I thought My Little Ponies were sooo dopey!
I said to myself,”they don’t do anything, they are just static little statues of ponies!!”
    Then I realized something.
When I was a kid,I wasn’t into electronic toys,or super articulated toys,I LOVED those plastic,or hard rubber molded dinosaurs, and spiders and snakes.
    They were the same idea!!!
    I realized that I,in fact,was a “my Pretty Triceratops “ kid.
At least the Ponies came with a hairbrush!
    Nobody brushes a dinosaur.
The important thing about these toys is that their simplicity elicits a child’s imagination, just like the dinosaurs, rather than the toys that do everything for you.
    So,yeah,the girls were right,again.
    They always are.😅

As a kid, I was never into them back in the day. As an adult, I fell in love with the newer iteration, MLP: Friendship Is Magic series. Twilight Sparkle was basically me in cartoon pony form. Go figure!
