I bought Claude code to use Claude design. A few prompts and it limits you. You canât get real work done with that so I wouldnât be renewing.
I pay for OpenAI codex, the limit isnât bad and I can actually do work with it.

Forcing demand and producing profits and forcing useless consumption to get more training data to render the engineers obsolete

Funny when their profitability and growth are in question they universally come up with a trend to use the programs and software more⌠can anyone else see the writing on the wall? đđ¤

c'mon, how can it be so easy for AI companies to make money so fast, from the tool, even if possible? its probably just the CEO announcing such news to attract more investors.

I work for a massive US corporation. Tech is not the core business. D&T is seen exclusively as a cost centre and every step of the way costs are cut and the cheapest option is always seen as the best. With this in mind you, dear listener, will not at all be surprised to hear that we own a couple of facilities in a emerging country where we hire every third string engineer who wasnât good enough to emigrate to Silicon Valley. If the PRâs we were sent would even run let along meet even the vaguest interpretation of the acceptance criteria it was considered a minor miracle.
Then along came vibe coding and our sanity was saved. Instead of half baked human slop they just fed the ACâs into the sausage maker and sent us the machine slop instead. Yes, most of it is still garbage, but it is significantly better than what we were being sent prior.
Itâs companies like mine that will power anthropic.

Using tokenmaxxing as an IPO PR tool could backfire immediately if corporates cut budgets and users switch to cheaper Chinese alternatives. Both are happening. Itâs alarming. How will the share price develop?

Tokenmaxxing can't make them profitable. Every token spent costs them because they still subsidise them.
They just got a discount on datacenter use for a few months.

isn't even tokenmaxxing it's a discount on compute from xAI, you can see it in their S-1

Thereâs a famous example from India where in Delhi there were too many cobras, so the British gave incentives to anyone who brought in a dead cobra. Instead of killing cobras, locals would breed the cobras and kill them so they could get the money from the British đ.

With regard to the productivity hoax⌠One year of Python experience is no where near the requirements of a junior engineer just a decade ago. A few years ago a serious tech company would generally expect a degree in computer science where a student studied in either C++ or Java. One year of Python experience is not even equivalent to the first year of a proper CS education. Also note, many students who graduate with CS degrees (even from prestigious universities) cannot do basic programming tasks. These tools have no value whatsoever for serious engineering. Engineers who are more âproductiveâ using them are likely engineers who never generated value in the first place.
Because the industry is mainly run by non-technical/incompetent management and many of the engineers are effectively imposters you canât really take people at their word. Also, note that many of the most challenging defects in programs are solved by modifying a single character or word. Buffer overflows, boundary conditions, pointer oriented mistakes etc generally will be caused by what one may call an âoff by one errorâ. The challenge is created by how subtle the mistake is. I donât think any serious engineer would actually use these tools. I would never hire someone who did and I would continue giving challenging and novel coding problems to interview candidates to ensure these âvibe codersâ donât make it through the interview process.
