~ In 1993 screen shots of a game started appearing which promised to be the best fighting game ever made, if not, the greatest game ever made. The hype was insane…. That game was called Rise of the Robots, and although it was initially designed for the Amiga, it quickly spread to about every other platform in sight. We had Rise of the Robots Amiga, Rise of the Robots Sega Genesis, Rise of the Robots SNES, Rise of the Robots CDi, Rise of the Robots 3DO, Rise of the Robots on PC, even Rise of the Robots on the Game Gear… of all consoles. The problem was, it turned out to be an absolute turd. They lied to us through the power of marketing. In this video, I’ll explore the story and just why Rise of the Robots was such utter baubles.

There was an amazing robot fighting game but it wasn't Rise Of The Robots. One Must Fall was the definitive fighter. I dare say it is still the best to this day.

I remember the hype for this game, it was literally everywhere. Never had the chance to play it on release so I guess I was one of the lucky ones as I have never bought a copy but I have to say…. What a hot pile of shit this game is to play!

Rise of the Robots was completely trounced by OMF:2097 on PC. Rise probably wasn't that bad a game, but in comparison it was absolute garbage.

Never got around to playing Rise of the Robots but I still remember the hype surrounding it. I was working at Fred Meyer electronics in 1994 and remember it was going to be the next big thing along with Donkey Kong Country. Of course we know how that went.
What’s even worse is despite its failure they attempted to put out a sequel which was considered even worse.
Thankfully despite being a PC gamer I skipped over it. A few years later I had my own disappointment with Jurassic Park Trespasser.

I don't understand why all this is a big thing. Marketing will always over sell, and only in very few cases companies will deliver up to the marketing promises, but in general under-delivery is the norm. So why the big fuzz for something that is very common? This video could be 15 minutes shorter and get the point through.
