"There's like plexiglass between us…" YES!!! My mom and I have this distance between us that I can't seem to penetrate. Like we are aliens to one another, so different. I do t remember my mom kissing me, or looking in my eyes and saying "I love you", I'm terrified to go to her for comfort. 😢 I have parts of me that are angry at her and I don't feel safe going to her and expressing it. It sucks!

My mom was the "silent generation." Her mom raised her 3 siblings when their parents died within months of each other. She was 17, and the youngest was under 1. She then had my mom out of wedlock, which was shamed upon. Describing it as a "wall of plexiglass" was perfect.
My mom was a superwoman who could do anything and everything, but I never felt like I knew her until she moved in with me and my family, and one day, sitting in the family room, she looked at me and said "You truly are a wonderful mother" "um thank you?"
"No, I'm serious, yoiu and the kids, you have this connection that I've never seen before. I can't exolsin it, but it's just wonderful to see"
I realized then that my mom wasn't this cold person, that it was trauma from her childhood.
The last 2 years of her life took away that plexiglass. Miss you, mom and dad ❤

We were raised with the idea that money isn't everything, only to be spoiled materialistically and impoverished in relationships.

As an emo millennial, I now have a new hope for my son’s future – comedian. Lol I’m definitely in the sad mom’s club.

His mom is a mean, cold, straight up c*nt. Her abuse/neglect did some serious damage to him.
I feel so bad for him, and can also relate.

Theo was majorly adultized and emotionally abandoned. He has a good heart and is very sensitive. I love hearing him speak about his childhood. All we need as children is to be loved, protected and cherished.

Theo Von just needs to focus on finding himself a good wife that gives him that care and affection.Through all that and his dad's relationship Theo seems very humble and a good man. My mother was never that affectionate but did play with us and showed her love in other ways. and now with my husband he is very affectionate and it bothers him that i am not like that all the time. like very lovey dovey like kissing in front of others or family i can't do that much and to him and many others it's so normal to do.

A lot of the stuff he’s talking about from the past being primitive and depressing but that’s all relative to todays technology. Kind of irrelevant, an outhouse was seen as a luxury back in the day
