A lot of slaves actually joined or were forced to join the fight for the south. A lot of slaves actually remained loyal (through fear or survival) to the South.
I will say that a lot were not allowed to enlist to fight as soldiers, which probably was a mistake since there were about 6-10k of them in the south, but yeah.

honestly puts into perspective, it was never about state rights, it it were they south would have offered freedom and a job to slaves for service in the confederacy, i know even then the union having black soldiers were also looked down upon when you fight for something bigger than slavery it wouldn’t matter once you lose so much men, so in the end yeah the confederacy was too racist to win the war

The south killed more of the north and far more brutally at that, but the north had better battle tactics and greater numbers overall.

The south was winning at first and the main advantage the north had was the numbers continuously flooding in. Then the later northern generals started stacking southern bodies. Sherman included
