I’ve been called weird by my friends before for arguing that this is actually good, valuable music. In my eyes, it’s no freak show, it is the antithesis of creativity not being held back, and even as a more “traditional” artist, Daniel Johnston is my biggest inspiration

The outsider musician canon sort of irritates me. Every city has like a dozen of guys just like this but most folks wont interact with their stuff cus their isnt merch.

Another electronic artist I would describe as an outsider artist is Mr. Oizo.
He is often unfairly reduced to "Flat Beat," which is one of his worst tracks.
When he started his career in the 90s he wasn't into dance music at all.
Many of his tracks are both danceable and weird as fvck.
His 2005 album “Moustache (Half a Scissor)” sounds like someone threw every sample in the world into a box and then shook it up, odd time signatures, strange computer voices.
In "Patrick122" he sampled an old disco-funk song and added random beeps.
Nowadays, he's focusing more on his movies as a director—which, by the way, are just as weird as his songs.
