If your barn cats are torturing rodents, you feed them too much. Cut off most food in the spring/summer. They'll learn to catch/eat as quickly as possible because they don't have another food source. They only play with their food because they don't really need it.

Your new book is on my summer reading list. I read Toby Dog of Gold Shaw Farm to my Kindergarten class . They loved it! I plan on reading it to my oldest grandson when he visits at Christmas. He loves watching Toby dog and Abby dog with Nana.

23:07 "Years ago, when I was backpacking across Western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path, and I came to a clearing, and there was a lake, very secluded, and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent. Gorgeous. And across the lake I saw, a beautiful woman, bathing herself. but she was crying…"

When you think that dogs have an extraordinarily powerful sense of smell, estimated to be 10,000 to 100,000 times stronger than humans, Abby still seems to have to stick her nose in what ever she finds, cow pats more so.

My cat had a groundhog boxed in yesterday!! It eventually escaped and ran into the woods. Poor thing, it was staring at me and the whole time my cat was behind it, stalking it. lmao… I looked at lil buddy and said, "I'm not the one hunting you man."

When going to brush the heifers, you might want to attempt it when they're not so rowdy from trying to get in the bucket. It's like trying to dress a toddler when all their friends are running around. AKA the impossible task.

You know, Morgan, I was just thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool if Morgan invited Dr. Grandin to the farm– and wouldn't it be cool if she came?". And 30 seconds later you mentioned her.😊

Get ready to be disappointed by the A.I. success rate. Swapping breeders with another farmer may be more of a hustle but often yields much betters results and, if A.I. prices aren't unusually low in your area, transporting a couple of animals back and forth between farms should be in the same ballpark financially. If you chose the swap the bulls you have to do it at exactly the same time and they can be hard to manage, so it's often easier to move the heifers instead. With a healthy bull they don't need more than a week to get mounted.
