On Today’s Episode:

How many diets have you tried to lose weight? The problem is a lot of these diets are all successful on some level, but not many are effective in keeping the weight off and helping you maintain a healthy weight and a healthy lifestyle long-term.

Jessie Inchauspie is the Glucose Goddess of Instagram that wrote the international bestseller, Glucose Revolution to address the glucose rollercoaster 80% of people can’t stop riding. In her book she gives practical tips to make lifelong changes that will help you control the glucose spikes affecting your health.

So what are some of the key strategies Jessie points to:
Veggies at the start of your meal
Fiber is super protective when consuming sugars and starches
Changing the order you eat your foods means you can still enjoy sugar

QUOTES:

“My work on teaching people about glucose is not a diet and its primary objective is not fat loss. Its primary objective is to help the 80 odd percent of the population that has glucose spikes everyday avoid those spikes, […] the common consequence is fat loss but that’s not the primary angle we’re going after.”

“The amount of fat you have on your body is not a very good representation of your internal health.”

“In order to lose fat your insulin levels have to be down.”

“Starches and sugars they’re fine to eat but they’re for taste, they’re for pleasure.”

“Fiber is only really useful in the context of other bad stuff you’re eating.”

“Glucose is your body’s preferred energy source, […] Every single living thing on this planet also runs on glucose, from plants, to dolphins to humans.”

“Your muscles are your best friend in this glucose world.”

“The best time to eat a cookie is before you workout.”

Interesting points about living forever. For me, I know I'm going to live forever. The question for me is where and why am I going to live forever. I believe we all live forever. This place is just the beginning of the journey. So to finish the thought, I also believe I'm a 3 part being. The spirit and soul lives on forever but my current body is dying. Then through faith in Jesus the Nazarene -salvation changes my spirit and soul to live forever with Him immediately, and my body will be changed to an eternal amazing life (after death or at an event called being "caught up")… It's all in the Bible-Genesis to Revelation IS just that.

What i like about her is that she is realistic and provides these hacks for people like me who cannot sustain keto, carnivore, or Intermittent fasting long term. I need to be able to manage my food now, while I am trying to lose weight, so i will be successful in keeping it off. I’m excited about trying her hacks and am confident I will be successful.

This conversation turned strange at 45 minutes. Jesus is the only way the truth and the life. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior by faith through grace is a gift. And with that yes our flesh will die but our souls will live and that is the confidence we have as a Jesus follower that though this flesh may perish we will live in the new heaven and earth with new bodies. I’m excited that this earth isn’t my home and I’ll be with the creator of the world when Jesus comes again.

48:00 – The comment about being really strict and giving yourself permission to take the weekends off was so relatable: I remember doing this in my early 30s, I’d diet and exercise really hard all week long and on Saturday morning be excited to have donuts and a big caramel latte for breakfast… and two three hours later realize I felt nauseous. Eventually I learned that sweets first thing in the morning (especially ONLY sweets) leave me feeling like trash. If I would eat a more complete savory breakfast and share a donut with a friend, feel basically fine. Still too heavy and needing to exercise and lose weight, but I’m still working on that.
For others looking to follow Jessie’s hacks, I’d suggest looking into how the traditional Japanese breakfast is structured. It’s very much like this.

Oh my lands! I’ve never heard of keto doing that to anyone else before. I lost my cycle for 11 months. I also describe myself as a beast during that period of time. Very similar to how GG describes it. Crazy

Sometimes other humans can make your life so completely miserable that death feels like a better option. Also tragic life events completely out of your control can trigger the same feelings. It makes perfect sense, and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with you doing something wrong. Unfortunately you will find this out one day. Living forever would get extremely boring too. No thank you

Sad that, people would listen to a person who would say trees and books are made of glucose; there is a difference between a complex carbohydrate and glucose. Yes complex carbs can be broken down into glucose but they are very different. Misinformation kills people!!!!!

the interviewer is so pro keto it's almost funny XD and a bit on the extremist side and he's so arrogant too… like dude, you don't have all the answers… Like Jessie approached is way more based on real life even if her spiritual stuff is not people cup of tea, the science fact are super based… And on a personal note that dude looks not very healthy, skin etc… does not look so great while she does look very clean despite the terrible hair job… I mean if you are going to promote an extreme type of diet, at least try to look good on it XD

Sorry. But fiber is absolute crap! I got rid of fiber in a carnivore context. All bowel issues (several), bloating, flatulence… Gone! And I really mean gone/vanished.
Meanwhile get some fiber rich food back and suddenly they all come back. Stop = vanish. Already did enough back and forth to be able to see the effect on the spot. This ridiculous "fiber" lie continue based on… nothing! Oops!
