You may think of insulin resistance as being reserved for diabetics, and you may have even drawn the same conclusion I have, that the problem is glucose being too high. After speaking with Ben Bikman, a scientist that studies metabolic disorders caused by insulin resistance, I was shocked to find out that insulin resistance can still develop even in people with seemingly normal glucose levels. Ben’s explanation of the complicated nature of insulin in the body and his unique take on facts that can literally save your life with knowledge are exactly what we need more of. Whether you consider yourself to be healthy, prediabetic, or struggling with other health issues this episode may give you the insight you need today.

QUOTES:

“when you start asking someone to change habits, you are probably asking them to do the most difficult thing they can do. It’s just so much simpler to take a pill. And consequences be damned” [15:31]

“… it might be empowering, that rather than hopelessly taking medications every day, knowing that the only the only future is increasing the dose of those medications. Let’s actually address the true origins of the problem, which […] is often going to be insulin resistance.” [18:17]

“insulin’s telling the body how much fat to store, the sex hormones are just telling the body where to store it, and how” [28:08]

“the muscle is so hungry during exercise, that it just basically tells insulin look when I’m at rest, you’re the boss, but when I’m exercising, I’m the boss. I’m going to get what I need, and so it basically pushes insulin to the side.” [39:01]

“if you try to compare diet to exercise, diet will beat the hell out of exercise, as a variable for insulin resistance.” [42:00]

“it [vegan diet] is a privilege of the elite. You have to be educated enough to know what your deficiencies are, and you have to be wealthy enough to afford the supplements” [44:47]

anyone saying dont eat carbs , veg, fruit is basically just putting a band aid on the human system.
that is a band aid and not healing. if you want to truly heal then increase your plant uptake and allow the body to handle these carbs….dont hide from them.
stop eating high refined carbs and pure sugar, and the body can handle the rest, along with all the fibre and nutrients it will become a fantastic carb protein fat machine.
or you can mess up your system and eat tons of meat , and become a dangerous protein and fat machine , ill prepared to handle any carb

We pay so much money for medical insurance , doctors who do not understand any of this nor want to entertain it. This info is free and absolutely priceless. Our medical system is broken.

Take preventative measures so you are not being fed big pharma treatments. Invest your money in your health. Get a full body measurement through lab work. Balanced diet of Whole Foods, optimal sleep, 150 minutes a week in zone 2 cardio, 3 days strength training, good people doing the same in your life. God first! Do these things everyday.

My guess is the reality of what’s going on will come out in the end: studies indicate that carnivore diets, while they give good results in the short to mid term, don’t work in the long term and diets like Mediterranean work better.

The number of PLANT based baby foods I see at the store now is astounding. Considering Dr. Bikman said a growing baby/child needs the animal based products for health, what is going to happen to these kids who are being made to eat vegan/vegetarians?!? 😢

About 12 years ago when my husband and I started eating low carb, I had told a dietitian we don’t eat bread, pasta, etc. and her response was, “How do you get fiber?” Ummmm… for fiber, we eat vegetables and fruit. So apparently this dietician only thinks fiber comes from whole grain breads?

    I have a fusion, a crushed6?

)]】 vertebrae, and mild disk bulges in every one of the disks in my neck, I have nerve pain from it and migraines. So I definitely have chronic pain but I've cut out high fructose corn syrup and I'm eating whole food, and not eating anything that came in the form of a powder or is ultra processed. I can say that it has affected my pain, I have less inflammation so there's less irritation to my nerves. 😊

Yes, so I live a carnivore/very low carb lifestyle and have for 2 years now, and my blood sugar is still running what I call high. In the mornings, it varies from 100 to 200 and tapers in the afternoon. I try to walk every day and lift weights a couple of times a week. Just to keep some strength. I was T2D and overweight, 280 lbs, now I am 185 to 190. I l went from a 42 waist to a 32 and feel great. It's just that my blood sugar runs high, so are there people who just run at a higher blood sugar level? I also fast every day for at least 18 hrs. Thanks.

At the 8 min mark the doctor was explaining how a person stays unconscious and he was cut off before he could explain how they would regain consciousness. How?
