I used to hit the food prepared for the breakfast buffet every time I went to the walk-in (for some reason they built it 2 levels under the kitchen of the hotel so I had plenty of time to eat on my way back)

I worked running food in an upscale restaurant in college, early 2000’s. It didn’t offer to go boxes. First time I saw a coworker eat leftovers off someone’s plate, I was so shocked & disgusted. Then they asked if I got hungry & how I could afford to eat on break? Chef actually yelled & berated me for ordering the cheapest thing on the menu. So yeah, cutting off the food that’s been bitten into & eating food that was returned bc the customer wasn’t hungry was how I fed myself for free. No regrets.

When I was a young single girl living on my own in Orange County California I had a lunch shift hostess job at an upscale very fancy Chinese restaurant. It was new so not a lot of daytime foot traffic but nonetheless they were open for lunch. The guys in the back always made me a super yummy meal since they weren’t busy and made me eat before I left. I guess they thought I was too skinny. God bless them. The restaurant did very well at night so good for the owners.

Not quit like this, but my Grandpa worked close to a chocolate factory once. he often went there to eat in their open Canteeen. At some point he noticed that while there was always dessert, there was never chocolate, so he kind of looked around and asked if he could get a piece of chocolate.

    Apparently, the stares were brutal.

Turns out, if you worked there, you were allowed to eat as much chocolate as you wanted. Most people there did not want to see another piece in their life.

Olives with limes are my go-to snack, the restaurant that I work at lets us eat soup salad rice towards the end of our shift along with a meal the chef cook for all the employees for free!!

It's honestly more likely robots will replace the cooking staff. No one sees them and it's way less jarring to customers. People want to interact with other people when ordering food but if a machine is cooking it it will come out right and exact

I used to take the untouched chocolate-covered strawberries from cleared tables when I bussed. Since the strawberries were complimentary, I'd go home each night with like a dozen or two strawberries.

As a nurse … we have our nurse food as well. Ingredients include apple sauce. Crackers, graham crackers , puddings, cheese, peanut butter … there’s a few others that vary per facility lol

"I really don't care for the Quesadilla's is it ok if I order something else"

Greatest words a servfer can ever hear, ring in their new order, put a rush on it, the manager will be taking it out to them so that ties him up, so it gives you a 1 minute and 30 second window of murdering the uneaten Quesadillas on the plate.

The best thing with Working at private hospitals was all the meals that were included in the job. Roast lunches and dinners.
Also if the patient doesn't eat/want their sealed jelly, juice or fruit cup it's free game for the kitchen staff. That stuff was the best when I unfortunately had to work a 16hr shift.

I used to start work at a restaurant at 5am and end at 10pm I had a power bar at 4:30am and bad coffee at work when no one was looking lol they just had a couple pots fresh brewed in the back after a couple hours they'd pour it down the drain.

I had my lunch at 11pm lol.. I thanked God that taco bell and burger king stayed open late.

Oooooo my restaurant had this awesome baked butter with garlic butter and you would dip it into the balsamic vinaigrette dressing from the salad bar. It was fire!!! Also the chefs will give me the gumbo base and I can go and get my own little cups of rice and add it to it
