The REAL Reason Someone Keeps Killing The Peace Deal
Positive views of capitalism among all Americans have dropped to an all-time low. 62% of young Americans now view socialism favourably. 70% of Democrats prefer socialism to capitalism. And this data was collected before the war started.
Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary and political commentator Cenk Uygur debate whether America is heading toward a fundamentally different economic system, and whether that’s a disaster or a correction. Kevin argues that socialism is a recurring fantasy that always dies when young people get their first paycheck and see something called tax. He says the pendulum always swings back because the human desire to build, earn, and consume is stronger than any ideology. He calls himself an optimist who has seen this movie before.
Cenk pushes back hard. He argues that America doesn’t even have real capitalism anymore. What it has is corporatism, where every major industry has captured the government through political donations, and the result is socialism for corporations while ordinary people get squeezed. He says the reason Americans are turning against capitalism isn’t ideology. It’s lived experience: watching CEOs get bailouts while they can’t afford rent, watching AI threaten their jobs while executives pocket the gains, watching politicians serve donors instead of voters.
