The Mary Wallopers, “Love Will Never Conquer Me,” // GemsOnVHS™
Just another day in Dundalk, Ireland with the lads. We woke up as early as we could, seeing as we were still shaking off the brain fog that an extravagant night of the finest Guinness pints can do to you. I told the boys to show me the spots that mean the most to them, the sentimental corners of their hometown. The places that made them who they are, the streets that formed the songs. So they took me to the Sunray cafe/bakery in Dundalk, home of the world’s best fry. Many men, women and children have spent a glorious morning there recovering from their longest nights over a hot cup of tea and some sausage. Okay, maybe they were just hungry.
Anyway, Sean decided to show up, and he played us this most raucous of a banger, “Love Will Never Conquer Me”, about defeating love, a celebration of the single life. A great turn of the tables, as i’m sure we’ve all had our fill of songs celebrating love, or mourning its loss. For what is wrong with the fair pursuit of fun nights out and making out with babes?
We played like six songs in there. I’m kind of amazed at how easy it was. They just walked in like they owned the place and everyone was thrilled to have some music. I feel like if we did this at Waffle House in America we’d get arrested. That lady in the background was really feeling it. Someone contact her and please get that cellphone footage she was taking. We need the alternative angle.

They’ve wrote less songs than UB40 but the vibes, energy and pure quality they produce out of the songs they cover are well worth the pardon, amazing live

Love bands that toss around lead vocal duties on a song by song basis, esp. when they are so are all such nice, unique voices.
