A Ronin doesn't need a master to find the way. Look inward, your discipline is your true guide.

So, either try very hard to not overthink, or try very hard to overthink and analyze everything. Sounds like life is work, unless one or the other philosophy just comes naturally, then it's as simple as breathing water.

The problem with psychologists (like Jordy Pete) is that they seem to think they are immune from the psychological problems they prescribe onto others. At least with philosophers they acknowledge they suffer like the rest of us.

my version of this story is at a river and the guy has the biggest sword at the time, a nodachi, then the guy in the boat kills him with the rowing stick because it is slightly longer

Don't have preferences:
Sacrifice the sword for a better weapon – firearms
Then, don't have preferences, sacrifice firearms for an even better weapon – the tongue

"do not seek pleasure for it's own sake" means to not live for pleasure, to seek the thing you enjoyed, imagine you see a beautiful sunset, and it gives you tremendous pleasure, or somebody presents you a delicious meal, there's nothing wrong to enjoy it, the problem is when your whole life is about pursuing the thing or things that give you pleasure, its more like pleasure happens, but don't make into a problem, it will be a problem when you are a slave to it, don't create an image about it in your mind, like if you do then next meal or sunset will not be as pleasant, cause you are comparing them, something good cannot be repeated, so live moment from moment, there will be good and bad, but it's always new and not repetition

Overthinking is a bullshit invented by pseudo-psychologists adepts of "emotional intelligence", who refuse to analyze the violence of the less intellectuals, and who try to hide their own intellect limitations by imposing to victims the same limitations. I bet they will find the last phrase too long and ask to reduce it. It's a new form of control, from the most weak and coward. Emotionnal intelligence is a death sentence to IQ and cognition from the less endowed. Not suprising that "overthinking" was on the lips of all masculinists in the 2013-2020 era. Seing brutal individuals and submitted ones use that technic of rejection of any deep analyzis is hilarious, as for all those eastern philosophies laughing from your sufferings and accusing you to build them. Cowardice is everywhere in the world, in families, in groups, in religions… You suffer from others ? It's your fault ! You think too much ! Please deny your own sufferings and all the sources of it you can perceive ! You think there is culprits ? Please ignore ! Forget it ! Don't live in the past 😄. Yeah, as if the aforementioned culprits would vanish and not repeat the same on you all the time. You're unemployed and poor ? It's your fault, not the one of sharks and selfish pawns who follow a model of competition and greediness. If you wouldn't cry, you would find a job by crossing the street ! (facepalm). Rejection never exists, yeah yeah… Violences, heartless behaviors, reversion of faults, lies, sophism, never exist too… yeah yeah… 😂
The world is perfect, just stop thinking. ROFL.
