The "Don't hang up!" story reminds me of the horrific draino killings in the 80s where the two guys robbed everyone in an audio equipment shop and tied them up and force fed them draino, then shot them all. The only reason those guys got caught was because one guy happened to survive the execution gun shot (and draino, and a pen being stomped into his ear).

I wish we ammended the death penalty, and reserved it for people who do this, where the burden of proof is higher, but instead of lethal injection we bring back drawing and quartering.

Idk man with the Jennifer case. I’ve been around many people whose parents are getting divorced. Mine included! There is a heavy amount of stuff that goes on behind the scenes. No one should be murdered. Yet unless you are in someone else’s shoes it’s stupid to comment. 12 years is a long time. Most of the divorces I’ve seen first hand. The wife cheated. Yet of course women can do no wrong. To say so it’s misogyny this or that. Yet even the same with my parents. My mom cheated after 22 years of marriage. ISPs can see the website (as the server host). But they cannot easily see what you do on that website (https has encryption vs http).

More importantly though data brokers can go through a lot more than the isp. All major social media platforms are gonna collect a lot more of your data than the isp.

Edit: The point isn’t that vpns are useless, they very much aren’t. But they should be honest about what it’s like without them and what they change.
