All well and good but you missed a huge point that Danger Mouse made with this record. He challenged the whole music industry by registering the album on Creative Commons license. It's COPYLEFT, not Copyright, so he granted by default the right to anybody to download, copy or make a derivative piece from it. This was huge and you shouldn't miss out on that aspect.

Red and Blue into Purple is a reference to the Greatest Compilation Albums of All time = The Beatles two Double Albums 1962-1966 & 1967-1970..wow what a reference..l am in my 60's and l get it ❤ as stated the most sampled group in history..look it up 🎉

As a Beatles fan I downloaded the Grey Album way back in the day so I could be outraged at how they ruined my Beatles. But then I loved it, a great way of mixing the old with the new in the same way 1980s mixmasters were sliding in 1960s and 1970s soul and RnB songs to new hip hop and rap.

I’ll never forget “Grey Tuesday”. I still have a vinyl copy of that album in my collection… and I actually got kicked off eBay back then for selling bootleg copies of The Grey Album on CD. 😄

Doesn’t sound that good. The vibe of the rapping was not matching the vibe of the Beatles songs. It’s interesting but kinda ruins the spirit of each respective album. I think people just get excited about this as a novelty and mistake that as good stuff.

there was a dude in my platoon for basic training in the marines who told me to give it a listen when basic was over. Changed my life and help pivot my listening into hip-hop and diving down rabbit holes of sampling, which led me to everything from Sly and the fam to Steely Dan. Made my dad sit and listen to it on a road trip cause I was raised on The Beatles. He said it wasnt quite his style, but he understood it.

So, Frankie, wherever you are, a million thanks.

A bit disgruntled that you didn’t mention Rome by Danger Mouse and Danielle Lupi when listing his accolades (other than the brief mention of the Norah jones collab). That said, it’s worth its own episode. It’s a masterpiece
