The iconic Iron Maiden song you will NEVER hear live again

Metal Pilgrim | March 9, 2026

In a surprising and heartfelt move, Bruce Dickinson has publicly said that Iron Maiden should stop performing one of their most iconic early songs—“Remember Tomorrow”—as a tribute to original vocalist Paul Di’Anno.

In this video, we dive deep into the emotional history of “Remember Tomorrow”, what Bruce actually said in a recent interview, and why this decision matters so much—not just to Di’Anno, but to the legacy of Iron Maiden as a band. We’ll also explore the controversy around its origins and its legacy.

From the origins of the track on Iron Maiden’s 1980 debut album to the tension and respect between Bruce and Paul over the years, this episode uncovers the story behind Bruce retiring a song out of pure respect for the man who came before him.

I can understand the idea of Remember Tomorrow being "Paul's song" and Bruce wants to leave it. Cool idea… as much as I love the song and would love to hear it live again. OK, but I feel the next tour should include something special as a tribute to Paul. My choice….. Strange World.

As for Maiden dropping it, I don't have strong feelings one way or another. A little sad that the band that created it will never play it again, but respectful of Bruce's point of view.

Remember Tomorrow is a beloved song for me. It reminds me of a very special time when my friends and I would just lay about, in near-dark, listening to the first two Iron Maiden albums. To a teenager contemplating life, Remember Tomorrow would play and I'd just drift off into the song, leaving my body, leaving Earth….with no drugs involved!

    REMEMBER TOMORROW
    one of their best songs.
BRUCE on the EARLY DAYS TOUR was amazing.
These guys are so silly with their set lists. They are terrified to play their catalog. Like we are going to stop being a fan if they play the "unpopular" songs.

I know it's not the intention, but by avoiding the song it might feel to some as if we should just forget about Di'Anno as if he were never there. Of course they will play other songs that he sang but they will be Steve's songs. "Remember Tomorrow" has Paul's creative stamp on it as co-writer

Maiden was very much a cassette-era band, which is a shame because picky listeners always made you end the session if they came to one they didn't like. Just give it a chance!

Things like this go either way… they either never play it again or they play it at every gig, I completely get Bruce's view on it, it's noble, but imagine the the emotion in an arena of maiden fans hearing Paul's song, just imagine it.

One of Maidens best tunes. Was really never a fan of anyone singing any Paul era material other than Paul but that was never gonna happen obviously .

Remember Tomorrow is my absolute favourite Paul Di'Anno era song. I understand what Bruce is saying here, but I also really like the way he sings it! I think they should absolutely keep it and use it as a tribute to both Paul and Clive.

I never much cared for Bruce singing Paul's songs even though I love both as singers. The Dianno Maiden is separate and sacred for me. Saying that Maiden would never have been as big without Bruce ,he is a legend himself.

Many years ago, I used to play Wrathchild with Tony Parsons and a very young Richie Faulkner. I was doing my best Steve Harris bass playing, and it was immense fun.

Bruce has his reasons, so he decides what will happen, but RFYL already being announced as a tour that will feature songs we'll never hear again, it would make perfect sense for the fans to sing this classic song alongside Maiden one last time. Not only as a tribute to Paul but also as a celebration and final goodbye to this song that has meant so much to so many music fans over the last 45 years.

Back in the mists of time when Iron Maiden was first released and to this day,I skip Remember Tomorrow because it did nothing for me.Ok time may have improved my outlook on it but as with Alexander The Great,it's an OK album track but not one I'm interested in hearing live.

If it is retired, there are tracks a plenty to choose from, even from the early days. B Sides and never performed songs should be included on future set lists, in my opinion.

I can respect that! Also it opens room for another song we have not heard live or in awhile.
when you're talking about the slow melodic part that song also let us in on what was to come. Compare that section too Rime of the Ancient Mariner, very similar.

Bruce made Phantom his. Blaze made Afraid To Shoot Strangers his. Then Bruce made Sign Of The Cross his. Which makes me think, I haven't ever really heard Blaze sing a Paul song. I know he has, I just don't remember.
