The serving size is a unit of consumption so that the numbers are nice and round and easily worked with for any recipe. You're not supposed to each just one serving in most cases. You might just use one serving of butter on a muffin, though. But you might eat four 1/4 cup servings of rice for a meal. The numbers are setup to be more versatile. It's easier to multiply small servings than it is to divide the nutrition information for a big serving. Mainly comes into play when you're planning your meal and calculating your total calorie intake and your macros.

Of if you have a can of Pringles, you simply multiply the calories per serving by the total number of servings in the can. Because you won't be able to stop once you pop the top. And then you can put the lid back on the empty can and shoot the lid across the room with a satisfying popping noise. Fun for cats.

Apparently TicTacs are labelled as "0 grams sugar" because can exploit margin of error allowances by only containing .49 grams of the stuff. WTF. Margin's of error mean something else when factors include !!!sugar and diabetes!! what the actual f. How many of these diabetes stricken citizens, (DSCs), are poppin Ts like they all good then rolling into the ER?!

A serving size isn't a daily recommendation of how much to consume, it's the average amount someone would consume in one sitting; the consumer can use the nutritional information provided to make a more informed decision.

M&S also sell that same orange juice in a 350ml bottle and the 1L bottle you've got there is intended for more than one person.

The real reason they do this, is to make it seem like there's less sugar then there really is to the stupid person who doesn't check the "per 100g" or "per oz" or whatever

I was furious about the Ritz Crackers serving sizes and demanded to to talk to the FDAs top serving sizes guy. When Terry came out, I couldn't be mad though, and I told him it was just a misunderstanding.

What gets me is the other way around too where a product weighs like 15g but they give you nutritional information for 100g, and it's like "fuck i just wanted to check what I'm eating, not do math".

It's fine when it's multiples of 5 and 10, but then you buy a 29g protein bar which tells you 100g of said protein bar is 73% of your daily protein, suddenly you need Pythagoras or some shit.

People keep saying that Terry actually eats too much for his size, but no, smaller creatures tend to also have way faster metabolism. Some small critters eat more than twice their body size daily.
