Benn Jordan | June 26, 2026

Had to put on headphones to hear the sound in the intro lol.
But. I had a hum. Very annoying always there while I tried to sleep and I also after some time decided to check my fuses. First one I turned off was the one for my doorbell and it immediately stopped. My fuse box is right above my bed.

I can hear that sound when the earth shakes during an earthquake, no matter how soft the tremors are. Same when certain vehicles or natural phenomena shake the Earth or cause sound waves… I think it's sound waves? Idk sometimes it's something you can just *feel*

25:24 "…A440, and sort of up and down a few semitones from there."

Okay, that's something that us musicians can specifically relate to. And the lower of the two sounds that he describes sounds a little bit like what I've been hearing and feeling for at least the past 7 years in (and sometimes around) my home. I've been able to rule out multiple possible sources. Next time I have the opportunity, I'm going to pull out an electric guitar and bass in the middle of the night when the hum is easiest to hear, and see if I can match the resonant frequency or fundamental of the hum. I'm thankfully not consciously significantly bothered by the hum, but trying to find its source over the years has been kinda maddening.

You could've done the sound part more obvious as it was only maybe 1-2 seconds and no real indicator whether or not it was currently playing. I think I do hear it, but it might've also been a sound effect to make your video more spooky.

when i first started complaining about it, people actually had the audacity to try to diagnose me with schizophrenia (never been officially diagnosed)
so i recorded it with my studio-ish professional microphone and filtered the frequency to prove it was there.. and it was there!!

if you have LED light strips, even turned off, unplug them and hear the difference. i can hear computer monitors, CRT tvs, any electricity. i can sort of tune it out, but once the power goes out, it's so peaceful

I grew up in a small southern Colorado town not far from Taos and have DEFINITELY experienced “the hum” – at times for days on end. It’s absolutely maddening and has caused me to experience nausea. I’ve actually also experienced it living in East Tennessee and in northern Colorado. Nobody else could hear it I honestly just thought I was going bat shit

about a year ago i thought i heard a phone buzzing, the patterned vibration from phones on silent mode. I look everywhere for it, i thought i was going crazy, and asked my brother "do you hear a phone ringing?" and he says no. I brought him to wear it sounded the loudest to me and he said he heard nothing. I described the sound to him, and he looks at me, and he says "you can hear it, you can hear the hum" and just stood there. Ive learned to ignore it, sometimes its louder than usual, but i wear headphones or earplugs basically all the time, so i've lived with it.
