We don’t have flying cars because the only way it would be safe is if it was mostly automated like plane travel is… and at that point it would probably be too many things in the sky at once

Gonna wager a guess that a huge factor to why flying cars aren’t mainstream yet is because of the lack of laws for it. Ffs we barely have laws on AI & generative AI in the United States congress, and already saying bullshit( CP is CP REGARDLESS IF ITS REAL OR NOT ), who’s to say how much longer it’ll take for flying cars to go mainstream.

Flying cars are just helicopters with wheels. We do have the technology, but the amount of accidents that'd happen and the regulations it'd require is too much

Even if flying cars were workable (they're not) & even if ppl would even bother to go through all the hassles of getting a private pilot's license (which does have a substantial medical component ask me how i know) (they also won't), once they start becoming popular the exact same problems on the ground will happen in the sky. I remember watching the fifth element as a kid and thinking that I can't wait cuz surely this'll be available in my lifetime.
Then somewhere along the way I lost all sense of whimsy and hope, probably around 10 years old; coincidentally 9/11 happened that year.
