Weird History | October 15, 2024

Saturday Night Live has never been afraid to tell controversial jokes about pop culture, politics, or really anything; however, there have been times throughout the show’s nearly 50 seasons when some of those sketches or punchlines landed flat. Anytime Norm Macdonald did weekend update Man, I wish I would have been there when fear played. That is one of the most legendary punk shows ever. Not to mention New York's all right if you like saxophone

SNL is anything but controversial now. Its safe and tame, watered down comedy that is tailored to not offend anybody or push any limits at all. Its easily digestible slop for the masses that is making absolutely no mark on anyone or anything.

A lot of these (IMO) are mid to nothing. It is comedy (apparently, never been a SNL fan) not all jokes work, and sometimes it is the wrong audience.
BUT that Chelsea Clinton one is wrong… not quite as bad as a countdown to when a celebrity will be legal, but still bad and not right at the time, let alone now.

Okay that last one should not have been taken so seriously by people. It's quite clear he was playing a character who was completely ignorant and was meant to say something so stupid

Dressing up as a black person isn't "blackface" and it's bullshit to suggest otherwise. The racist history of blackface is that it was done in a cartoonish way to mock black people.
