The Beginning & End of Humanity

Pursuit of Wonder | September 28, 2025

New Pursuit of Wonder book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D4VSD88

A short fiction story about a man who finds himself at the beginning and end of everything.

This story is entirely fictional. The concept of artificial intelligence, mind uploading, and a future “singularity” is immensely complex, uncertain, and could go any number of ways. This story is not intended to be educational or speculative on those matters, but rather a reflection on the idea of achieving everything those matters seem to be striving towards, and what might come after.

👽👾👽 I hope I have enough time left to finish redecorating my kitchen, can’t really celebrate the end of the world with an old 80’s worn out horrible waterproof wall paper. Man, that would be such a miserable, sad, gloomy ending to my shitty and insignifiante pathetic life. 👽👾👽

I don't like the end. Clay's issue is the death of his mother that eventually leads him to beat it by becoming immortal. But I don't think his quest would have ended there. He would have tried to use that time to timetravel and prevent her death to give her immortal existence aswell. Also, when he draws up a blueprint for the new universe and the end metaphor of his sister asking whether it's now better and he says no, it's fine, that too is in disagreement with his issue. If he drew up a new universe then he would have made it better by avoiding his mother's death.
