INFO: Steven John Wilson (born 3 November 1967) is an English musician and record producer, most associated with the progressive rock genre. Currently a solo artist, he became known as the founder, lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter of the band Porcupine Tree, as well as being a member of several other bands. He has also worked with artists such as Opeth, King Crimson, Pendulum, Jethro Tull, XTC, Yes, Marillion, Tears For Fears, Roxy Music, and Anathema.

You maybe thought about I talk to the wind because Ian McDonald from King Crimson plays flute on this album and the Mellotron Steven uses in this album is Robert Fripp's Mellotron . So that's why you can feel the King Crimson vibes.

After listening to you describe each song so beautifully & enthusiastically, I can't believe you gave this masterpiece a 7. It seems you loved the music, but were disappointed with Steven Wilson's lyrics & cohesive theme, which I find superb. He seldom spells things out simply, leaving the listener to find their own interpretation. I think this is part of his genius. Compare this to watching a mainstream Hollywood film to an indie film that takes you places you don't expect & is far from predictable. Seldom do you hear intentional rhyming & trite lyrics. He is very poetic. So, I decided to look at a review of a different group to see if you are just tough on everybody. I watched your review on Nature Machine's Fake News. This gets an 8? For one, the singer is basically talking through most of the music. His tone is like Leonard Cohen, but more so reminds me of Lou Reed. The music is nothing in comparison, very simple & basic. Beats are pretty repetitive, and lyrics are so simplistic. The recording sounds like it was done in a garage. I am not knocking this group,. but how you can put them a level above The Raven is beyond me. Years from now The Raven will still be a masterpiece & Fake News will probably be a flash in the pan. I hope you will find Hand.Cannot.Erase. to be his most complete & cohesive work.
