What I least like about Stephen is that he diverts the question "what don't people like about you" to people who don't like his politics. You should be able to say what actual people in your life have problems with – he did say what they like about him.

You know it doesn’t make me less of a person or less of a heroine to want love or to believe I had friends even if I admitted it out loud people would think I was crazy. I can plan and think about all the ways I could spend a lot of money that I could feel good about, but not wanting to be alone, dreaming about a future with love is what I wanted most, I think that makes me a better person, and that’s what made me beautiful, no matter how you try and belittle me about it.

Colbert seems like such a solid human being, which feels rare for celebs now a days. Wish him continued success.

I feel the 70's and 80's were very political. I remember when people used to point out Nixon and how bad Ford were doing even though he finally ended a 2.5 years of recessions that they started as well as Nixon getting impeached. There isn't a time when growing up that politics wasn't discussed. Jabs were part of the fun.
We have more avenues to express our views and since the dismantling the Fairness Doctrine, a policy that had been in place since 1949 and required broadcasters to provide balanced coverage of controversial issues. Reagan, along with FCC Chairman Mark S. Fowler, advocated for repealing the Fairness Doctrine, arguing it infringed upon free speech and stifled journalistic freedom which allow Fox news, NewsMax and other non factual pretend news stations to provide 40% to 60% error rate vs prior 20% error rate under the Fairness Doctrine. Reagan's administration reportedly threatened to prosecute news outlets over their reporting. The Fairness Doctrine applied only to broadcast licensees (radio and television stations) and did not apply to cable networks. All we see now is FAKE NEWS telling us not to worry about the homeless and hate our neighbors.
