Listening to this I'm glad to report I've successfully expunged most of this movie from my brain because I don't remember anything except for the fact that apparently the Emperor isn't dead.
As far as I'm concerned the Force Awakens exists from the new trilogy.

Deciding to stop using social media 6 years ago is the 2nd best decision I've made right behind not watching this movie. I've spent untold hours talking to myself and resolving nothing. But not spending 3 hours watching this movie has made my self talk sessions infinitely more useful. Typing this has not been super easy and an unbelievable inconvenience.

I would honestly have been less pissed if Rey was just Kenobi's grandaughter instead 🤦 I mean they both have British accents so 🤷 plus thematically it would be better since Kylo is Anakins Grandson so it's like Anakin and Obi-wans rivalry continuing through their descendants kinda thing.
Also I think if they were gonna bring palpatine back they should've have just made it so he used force transfer after he died to transfer his consciousness into the body of a clone of himself, and like you could say the clone wasn't modified to have accelerated aging like clone troopers did, meaning the cloned palpatine would grow at a normal human rate. And you could even go further and say that palpatine commissioned this clone years before the end of ROTJ so by the time Palpatine "dies" he actually transfers to a clone of his child self, which why it's like another twenty years before he bothers doing anything again because he was in hiding for all that time while he matured into his full power.
This does a few things, for one it actually makes it make fucking sense how he came back. But also it means that the palps that Rey and Kylo has to fight is like a 20-25 year old Sheev, meaning he's in his absolute prime, and you could even go as far as to say he's more powerful in the force than he ever was because since he transfered bodies he's only grown more powerful through the years since he retained most of his powers after death anyway and has now rematured into a full fledged sith once again.
Wouldn't that be way better than what we got? Cuz then essentially for the final fight what you have is a Young Palpatine in his prime dual wild Fighting a 1v2 against Rey and Kylo. And like you can make the fight super long and drawn out like the fight between Anakin and obi wan, you could even have palps display more force abilities than just lightning, maybe even super powerful telekinesis to demonstrate his power with even basic force abilities. I just think the idea of a younger, more powerful palps that actually still fights with a saber is a badass concept.

One of the hallmarks of Bad Writing is to make too many characters related to each other – Luke & Leia, Luke & Darth Vader, Luke & C3P0 (just kidding), Jabba & R2D2 (just kidding), Palpatine & Rey – it just ends up sounding flail-y and desperate.

You forgot to mention how the Death Star ruins from like forty years ago perfectly lined up with an ancient dagger lol. I love how you pointed out the similarities between this movie and Avengers Endgame.
