Sierra Ferrell, “Rosemary,” // GemsOnVHS™

(update: 3/26/24)Wow, how far we have come since this recording, all of us. Sierra is now world famous, in some small subset of Americana music lovers. Millions of views, who woulda thunk it? Last time I saw her, I was making a few tour stops with Jeremie Albino, the Canadian musician and buddy who was opening for Sierra on some West Coast shows. Sierra sauntered up before a show one night, we exchanged hugs and hellos, and she offered me some deadly powerful edibles. Then she rocked the theatre each night.

The first time I met Sierra, she asked me to dance at the Honky Tonk Tuesday night at the American Legion in Nashville. Of course i’d heard of her before – from Lost Dog and various bands and vagabonds who told me of her amazing old time singing and habit of blowing into (and out of) town. The rumors held true. Our friend Eric introduced us in his amazing home studio to do this video.

    This version of Rosemary I hear slight hints of Judy Garland in some of the phrasing. That's the thing about Sierra, she has touches of many of the great singers of all different eras and the culmination is this sound that is the most unique, captivating, beautiful and even magical tone ever! I liked it better when she didn't wear so much make up cuz she's one of the most beautiful creatures ever!

    💙 I just discovered Ms Ferrell a few weeks back when this song popped up in my feed 😲💖 Da-ang! Love the melody, rhythm , her unique, wicked good, lovely Voice! 😮Woo to the Hoo! Binging her music since 😁- I'm old, 66, very eclectic tastes in music, partial to old blues,rock & roll, folk of the 60's 70's…dry spell in the 80's, in the 90's, 🎵 got good again 😁. Then, not so much, the artists sounded the same? To me anyway…especially female singers, Argh! Love the old blues & C&W singers, love Ms Ferrell's Unique, Beautiful, Voice, like old country, blues, razz ma tazz jazz 😁- makes my heart happy, she and other young artists are making music good again, Yay! Though..it seems, harder the times, the better the 🎶 Thank you !💖
