Sean Penn's a hunk. I don't know what many of you in the comments are saying about his looks😁 Also, this is a hilarious story that he's telling. One of my favorite scenes is when Spicolli orders the pizza during class. Another is when he skipped his regular classes to attend a class trip to the morgue with a different class. They don't make teen movies like this anymore.

Aww, I love Sean Penn. A great roll from a great director really early in his career. It didn't define him in any way, he went on to do much better rolls and films but it sure is iconic and a snapshot in time of the 80's. The 'surfer dude's' of So Cal weren't quite a trope yet when Cameron wrote the book but I've seen countless interviews on tv of them. They were very similar to the valley girls of the era though not quite as ubiquitous. Thanks for all the greta movies- miss your brother, loved him in Dog's and Rumble fish, among others.

My daughter met a man while she was working in a plastic factory. He had a strange accent considering we were living in Kentucky. She asked him where he was from and then she said, "You sound like a California surfer-dude." Guess what? He's from Long Beach, and he use to surf, among other things! 😇
