Not to be a phob, but I think Sly is gay. Just saying. No judgement, but trying to nurse off of a Bull …

Just curious, why don’t you bush hog or mow behind your cattle rotations? Supposedly, that increases the quality grasses on your property.
@wildflowerinn
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
Put Sly with the heifers!

Sly is a steer, right? Just send him down with the heifers.
@jaydenjones3110
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
Would you maybe consider moving sly in with the Hefers until he is large enough to not get pushed out so easily
@Official_DJ_Spark
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
Am I seeing Hemlock in that tall grass? Aren't you worried one of the calves will give it a taste test?
Or is it all wild carrot?
@mayosa666
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
Put a pole so u can see it from afar, maybe
@Hisoga
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
On the topic of Sly, I'm genuinely curious when you process your steers?

One thing I learned living & working on a ranch with cattle, is that if you section off their pasture into "strips" of land, and only allow them to graze every OTHER row (as in: you let them graze the "even" rows first, and let the odd rows stay untouched until they've grazed they've grazed all the even ones), you will GREATLY reduce the number of flies because their natural predators (like dragonflies, especially) love to hang out in the untouched rows.

Your farm is just beautiful in full summer – and in full winter. It's gets a bit muddy and messy during the messy wet in-betweens – but right now – it's a paradise.

21:30 you've never seen deer jump apparently?
@mysticashes9023
August 5, 2026 at 12:27 pm
Would it possibly be an idea for sly to move to the heifers? Maybe he wouldn't be pushed out of the herd as much and stay in the fencing?
@jwenting

My father ran an ag-services company. Taking care of farms when the farmer was on vacation or in hospital or otherwise incapacitated was a major major part of the business.
Yes, those people don't come cheap. But then again they take over the entire operation of the farm, not just feeding and watering the animals.

I love watching all your animals just be themselves. I was wondering, how much cattle do you have now? I remember when it was just like half a dozen and your farm has grown so much. I'm losing track. I'd love to see a garden tour with Allison. You can tell she loves that garden.

Still wondering if Sly might stay with the heifers better than the rest of them. He can't breed them and they might treat him better.

You should show Abby where the hole is so she will wander by it often and look for the animal that lives there and maybe Abby scent will drive it away

I'm guessing you've addressed it previously, but how do you deal with all the ticks in the high vegetation and on your animals and yourself?

Since Sly is fixed, can't he hang out with the heifers or will they pick on him as well?
