Red Hot Chili Peppers Have HAD ENOUGH

Rock Feed | May 9, 2026

A major new rock documentary is about to drop on Netflix, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers are telling their fanbase not to believe the marketing. In a shocking public statement, the band has effectively disowned the project, claiming that what is being sold to the public is NOT what they agreed to participate in.

The band describes the situation as a deceptive “bait and switch” involving the memory of a fallen friend. Now, Anthony Kiedis and Flea are speaking out to set the record straight before the March 20th premiere.

Netflix has a bad problem setting people up like this. And it doesn't matter if they have been sued over false precedence. They still broadcast it out to the public. That's one reason I don't watch Netflix.

I personally thought it was very well done. Was good to learn about their early youth coming together as friends then bandmates. Just my opinion.

It was strange when I saw it advertised. It’s very small next to the title. Our brother Hillel. I think it’s really odd that he “left” before they got gigantic.

Having seen it, I have to say, it’s pretty much a Hillel Slovak documentary. It tells the Hillel’s story, but you can’t tell that story without telling the band’s, and he’s not here to tell it, so yes the RHCP main guys are featured interviews throughout, but so are other folks that worked with him, family, and friends. Whatever you call it, it’s absolutely centered on Hillel. Had it been called “Hillel” it could be left exactly the same.

It really is about Hillel Slovak. They're just helping to publicize the release of the doc. "lower expectations?" It's probably better than whatever they would approve. They don't have a pretty history. It wasn't bad though.

This documentary was the best thing associated with the Red Hot Chili Peppers since the “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” album. They’ve been pretty uninteresting musically since then and this doc reminded me of how awesome they once were.

Saw the docu yesterday. I liked it very much! Gotta love to early days where nobody outside LA really knew the band. I think their music rocked back than.

Flea will always talk like he's one thing, but stories about him and his on stage antics show he's just a monster in sheep's clothing. Just watch the clip of him freaking out and ready to fight his tech because he couldn't hear his bass, except he was the one that didn't have his ear monitors in…

It sounds like VH1 Behind the Music series that BSed and slandered bands like Styx, Journey, Van Halen , Kiss, and Motley Crue. The bands mostly found out after the episodes were aired. Good thing that RHCP found out before so they could warn their fans and public. Kudos to them!😎👍

Well, anthony should not be happy about this book..since since he did say he had sex with under age girl…I wonder how his band mates feel about that…

Netflix documentaries. Who believes them these days? People should just watch them for entertainment purposes only. They're mostly bs and try to make people think a certain way (propaganda). Just like all mainstream media narratives.

A lot of people here who can't be bothered to read a few sentences, but have strong opinions. The band sat down for interviews for this project. They don't even say "do not watch it", they are not trying to take it down, but say that hopefully more people find out about Hillel Slovak this way, even if they don't like the name the final release got.
