Rare footage of cougars captured on camera in northern Minnesota
Two observations of big kitties recently—one in late August of last year and the other in late September.
Not sure if they are the same kitty or not but first one looks a bit bigger than the second one.
Anyway, we had 4 cougar observations last year: one in May, August, September, and October. All were of a single cougar just moving through the area.
If it was a resident, we would almost certainly get a lot more footage of the animal because it would be passing cameras regularly like happens with wolves, lynx, bobcats, etc.

Sure is a lot of rare footage of cougars in Mn, Wis and Mi! Does the DNR still say they are all males that wondered away from their normal range? They must go back for mating season to get a little then come back for some more venison! I could believe that if it was only the western part of Mn but they're deep into Michigan.

Honestly no suprise, cougars are the most adaptable of the cats, their range spands from northen parts of canada and united states all to the center of mexico and arizona and south in amazon rainforest in Brazil, peru and even so south in Argentina. So seeing one shouldnt be a suprise, its just mesmorizing to look on these beautiful cats

I remember when the DNR would bend over backwards trying to convince us that there were no cougars in Minnesota.

Which way was it headed? We sometimes get one cruising through northern WI on their way east.

Does anyone have an idea of how much they weigh in this video because they sure look pretty big to me? 😮

Fabulous! I hope that they are thriving. How do they generally cohabit with wolves?
