I still remember, like 20 years ago, being up late at night and the Heretics and Killers video showing on some metal show. I stopped whatever I was doing, stood there, mouth open, wondering what the FUCK was happening. Bought the album the next day. I love these guys. Good shit.

Couldn't agree more with your comparison to what Avenged Sevenfold has been trying to go for with Fortress. While I think Avenged has missed the mark on their latest album, Protest has consistently brought out some unique ideas in every album and I think Dissentience is truly something special for that reason. Palms Read as well. So much good stuff. Fortress is my #2 behind Volition personally.

I can't have a similar problem with Protest the Hero as I do with Coheed and Cambria. I just can't get into the vocals, in spite of how amazing the musicianship is. What would Metal Trenches or the comments suggest for me to give another chance with PTH?

Pacific Myth belongs in Fantastic beneath fortress though for me but I get it. Aside from Pacific and Within (because it's not out yet) I fully agree with this tier list.

Maybe i missed you mention it, but im curious where would you put A Calculated Use of Sound? Heres my ranking though (scored based on my song rating averages):
9.75 – Fortress
9.65 – Kezia
9.48 – Palimpsest
9.34 – Volition
9.16 – Pacific Myth
8.88 – Scurrilous
8.85 – A Calculated Use of Sound
6.50 – Search for the Truth (have to include as a diehard fan of PTH)

Been a fan since Kezia first came out, used to be able to see them for like ten bucks at a local dive venue's Christmas event every year, it's surreal to see them doing anniversary tours for albums I remember the release of. I was always impressed by how much they really bridged the gap between crowds: you had the metalheads, punks, emo kids, and the occasional normie just all in the pit together having a great time.
Your ranking lines up with mine completely so thumbs up for that, stoked to hear Within.

Palimpsest and Volition alternate as my number one. Both are absolutely perfect records. I can't wait till Friday for this one.
