I thought the precogs would turn into another Unity story. Rick’s ego is so massive that he can only love something that he doesn’t have to think about. Summer / Morty would realize that he can’t emotionally risk himself to care for them. Then the precogs leave Rick because he finally builds a conscience and realizes he needs his family, but is still pissed in the moment.

This season Rick and Morty is trying to find itself, it was the expression of the growth pains that come with exploring the plot of characters that have experienced growth in personalities and inter personal dynamics. Hope they find themselves soon. I’ll always enjoy a Rick and Morty episode even if it doesn’t hit the spot.
