"Like Nashville, with a tan." Yep, aside from being music centers, those two cities are basically the same. God, it's the stupidest lyric ever, even if he is trying to be ironic.

Shawn Mullins came out with his one big hit at around the same time as another person, Shawn Colvin, came out with her one big hit. They don't sound anything alike vocally, but they're both acoustic guitar players named "Shawn", so my brain tends to mix them together.

I loved this song… and Savage Garden. They were my first big concert (Sevage Garden)… Sorry you missed it. Truly deprived child you were 😂

I can relate with Todd on the fact that I gravitated towards adult alternative stuff when I first started buying my own music, albeit ten years later. But I'm talking the same music from the late 90s

Also I didn't know Beautiful Wreck was this guy. I heard that one a bunch in my mom's car 😂

its funny i thought for sure i would absolutely hate this song, the whispering is so corny, the conceit is so played out and it has the potential to really come off douchey. but the chorus just absolutely hits for me, i dont know how but this skeevy spoken word frat bro hit on smth that feels genuinely comforting

Saw Shawn Mullins at a festival RIGHT at the peak of Lullabymania. He was doing everything he could to not play that song…and he was absolutely fantastic?? Like, shockingly so?? Sounded pretty different from the single but in a great way, much more storytelling with a sense of humor and a great backing band. And, funny enough…Mullins was on the third stage, while on the main stage later that night was Fuel, performing that OTHER "Shimmer" song. 🙂
