Todd gets a lot of predictions wrong, but he was spot on about Me Myself and I being completely forgotten

Watching this 9 years in the future and that song you chose at the example of current hits that would be quickly forgotten was an extremely good pick as I had not heard that one probably since the year it came out lol.

I like the song, its great. If you did your research, it is the metaphor living in an apartment.

RIP Richard Darbyshire, former lead singer of Living in a Box. Thanks for gracing us with your forceful vocal performance on this curious piece of 80s ephemera. And that wonderful shirt

I love how "Blow the House Down" sounds like something that belongs in "A Goofy Movie"

Ooo Prefab Sprout!! Now you're talking. One of the greatest underappreciated bands of the 20th century. No joke!

I unironically love Living In A Box. Gatecrashing was a pretty decent album, and the title song was their best song imo

It sounds like some of their later stuff was them trying to mimic Level 42 a little bit
edit NO FUCKING WAY

"SophistaPop" is Yacht Rock for the people who own the yachts you WANT to be invited to party on. And you cover it splendidly, like everything else you do. LOVE YOU, Todd!

So the story is they went to visit their friend in Sheffield in a tiny council flat and he said he felt like he was living in a box – he wasnt homeless (which makes the intro to the MV even funnier since its just stills of homeless people) 🤔

When I asked my mom about this song she just replied "It's a song that was very big one summer, and then it wasn't", p much sums it up lol

I knew of this song prior to this episode but I'd never made the glaring Rick Astley connection until Todd pointed it out. This sounds so much like Astley's discography.

"living in a box" is the British version of the expression "drowning in pussy"

I keep thinking the first part of the riff is the start of a Rickroll.
Edit: I’m glad you agree.

in 86/87 I lived in Durham, in England, near to the Prison. One day, I was walking past the Jail and some wag inmate was blasting this out of his cell window. Huge respect, man.

Classic 80’s cheese – Well known in the UK, and still gets a bit of play on the radio.
