Thank you for clearing up my faulty memories.
I was working in a bar in the early 70s and hooked on a feeling was on the jukebox. But it has always irked me that there was an earlier version on the radio in the 60s. BJ Thomas, huh? Never would have guessed.

The 'ooga chacka' is terribly childish, unnecessary, and probably racist. It makes me genuinely uncomfortable and actually embarrassed for the vocalist(s) who tracked it.

Sorry, but I had a friend in school who would always joke that one day he’d murder me, get me taxidermied, and rig my body up with animatronics to dance and sing to Blue Swede’s version of hooked on a feeling like a human version of those singing bass mounts. That’s not nearly as funny of a mental image if I imagine it with the original version, so the cover will always be better imo.

Sometimes I wonder why Todd isn't a cultural ambassador and then he says something like "written in complete gibberish with weird marks over the vowels."

    Stay Classy.

The Dancing Baby should have had a stronger mention. It was on of the first, if not THE first internet viral videos. When it came out in ‘96 it was all people talked about.

The Association really don't deserve to be as forgotten as they are. Never My Love, Windy, and Cherish, throw in Along Comes Mary in there too, is a pretty strong legacy fifty years down the road.

Not sure if i remember this correctly but I was watching a robwords vids and I think the word suede DID come from the word Swede.

So both correct??? I don’t think it works like that but everyone wins right

As a Chess fan, I can pretty confidently say it will likely never come to Broadway (it had a failed Broadway run in the 80s). But it does have a pro-shot of a performance done at the O2 in London in 2008 that's available to watch. I promise it is just as insane as you think. Possibly more insane.

Jonathan King is the guy who discovered Genesis. They had a friend of theirs put their demo tape in his car, he liked Peter Gabriels voice, and he called them back and had them go to London.

The Swedish singers voice kinda works for me it's got thsi very im a big doof who managed to pull a bady way out of my league.
I guess the other version is I'm q scrawny nerd who managed to pull a baddie outside of my league.
But as a millenial who was introduced to the song via guardians of the galaxy, the Blue Swed version definitely fits starlord

Over the next 9 yeas, Todd would learn that Sweden is the capital of earworms. A surprisingly big chunk of catchy melodies had at least one swedish person in the writers room.
