Norteños ATM, “Loca Bipolar (Crazy Bipolar)” // GemsOnVHS™

GemsOnVHS | March 28, 2026

Well folks, we’ve taken it international again. A momentous occasion, as this is the first video we’ve posted in a language other than English! I do believe that folk music is a global communion that knows no boundary. This was a different style than i’ve grown accustomed to playing with and recording. That’s what life should be all about – exposing yourself to different ideas, cultures and music in the hopes of becoming a better person.

You may recognize these three from our Patreon video (https://youtu.be/zlBqPEqtJU8). I asked our friend Yuri, who is from Mexico and lives now in Nashville, if he could find me a backing band that played folk music from Mexico. He got the Norteños ATM boys for me, and the rest is history.

Our friend Yuri translated the lyrics for us:
Local Bipolar “Crazy bipolar”

The hours have turned eternal
Without you it’s gotten worse
Suffering by myself
I never imaged it would hurt like this
My life shut off since I lost you
But I can assure you this will pass
And of you, only smoke will be left

I bet you aren’t happier than me
I can see it in your face
And I hear it in your voice

You got what you were searching for
We have nothing to talk about
You will pay a big price with your loneliness
Better stop seeking me, you crazy bipolar
You always blamed me for your unhappiness
Karma doesn’t forgive and will get to you
Life will charge it’s price and you know it

I bet you aren’t happier than me
I can see it in your face
And I hear it in your voice
I bet you aren’t happier than me
If your soul goes rotten
I won’t be the one to blame

Reminds me of when I lived in Corpus and would go to my Mexican friend’s house and his grandma would always have music like this on an old radio in the kitchen and be singing along and cooking all manner of amazing food for he and I. I’d kill to have her empanadas again! Thanks for taking me back to that place with this!

I learned Spanish when I was 19/20 and needed some music to help me practice and hear the language. I ended up finding a ton of awesome music from Dominican bachatas, Argentine tangos, reggaetón from el Puerto Rico, and a lot of Latin pop and rock, but the stuff that I found I really got into were Mexican Bandas y las Canciones Norteñas. I love this stuff! Saludos a todos los mexicanos que están viendo este video!
