Nick Offerman | The Man Behind the Mustache | Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out Podcast
Mike met Nick Offerman years ago at the Sasquatch! Music Festival in Washington state, which is fitting because Nick is a man of nature, almost as well known for his woodworking as he is for his acting. After examining the Working It Out studio table, Nick tells Mike about what it was like to act as the straight man to Amy Poehler on Parks and Rec, and more recently prep for his dramatic turn in the film Sovereign. Nick also shares some wisdom from the wood shop care of his new instructional book Little Woodchucks.

I love and respect Nick Offerman. And – side benefit – we have a good actor who can portray Blue Bloods years Tom Selleck in a future Selleck biopic…

Won’t ever forget shaking Nick’s at the landmark theater waiting in line for popcorn and telling him his woodworking carrier is an inspiration.

OMG! I was thinking I was the only one that saw Elon for the poser he is! He isn’t always the smartest man in the room, and he doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. His self confidence and ability to get the lesser mortals to believe in him is astonishing. An excellent salesman and really superior at claiming credit for other peoples work and ideas.

“Never meet your heroes” moment for me….but aside from that disappointment, it actually leaves me more impressed with his acting.

No one says they're not misinformed because they watch Fox news! That was a lie.
This is getting old, and almost pointless, but f me, I have to try.
***Firstly, I can't prove anything right here, but you can if you really wanted to, but there are consequences of doing so(all ultimately good for you and your contry, but may seem negatives at first).
I'm terribly sorry Nick and probably Mike, but if anyone is in a bubble, it's you, by the way you just publicly displayed the vastness of your ignorance, politically. Where have you been? Who are your friends? Where and how do you intake information?
You are living in an ideological echo chamber. It's easy for any decently informed non-idiotic person to see just by the way you talked to each other in the first 10 minutes of this pod. The way you insinuated things(negatively) so matter of factly about your Fox News friend and Trump, shows you haven't even tried to see the otherside and ultimately the truth…things that have otherwise been proven to be a part of a massive campaign to gain power and control, and to politiclly, personally, and publicly destroy Donald Trump.
Most people have now seen enough of the deceitful and always hypocritical behavior and intent, which was widespread, behind the political left/democratic curtain.
Manipulating the people by using the news media and social media.
The illegal efforts to destroy people who didn't fall in line.
The almost completely made up Jan 6th "insurrection" narrative and subsequent reporting by only one side.
The arrogance to report the blm and George Floyd riots as peaceful, when they were 1000× worse and more destructive and deadly.
The lawfare against Donald Trump.
There are countless examples of the laughable amount of hypocrisy and denial by the left, on every issue.
You are confident you know the truth! Here's the thing though. The truth is that your whole life, as you know it, would change if you admitted the truth. You'd lose friends. You'd lose family. You'd lose career. You'd lose the weight of the world on your shoulders from continuing the charade. You'd gain what millions of other better people have gained by admitting the lies, the real imbalances of justice, the real hypocrisy…
Or you can continue living the great life you have been! Sying a lot, but knowing so little. Just know this, there's an ever-growing foreboding shadow hovering over you all, that history will not forget.
The now proven systematic and widely successful attempt of the left wing government to purposefully misinform US citizens about almost everything, and the embarrassing amount of corruption coming from that side, will all come out!…A whole lot literally just did. But I wouldn't expect you to know or believe that. Especially anything about Donald Trump, Covid, the border, illegal government activities(spying, mishandling of documents, fraud, waste, corruption), and so much more. It is all there to see, unless you don't want to see it, then you can continue to live in your fake world with your head in the sand. Study the tides. Strengthen your mind, don't trick it. Verify your absolute truths again or, or for the first time. Read everything. Filter nothing.

right-wing anti-government conspiracies always involve some shadowy police force operating behind the scenes, whether it's rogue agents, military mercenaries, corrupt defense officials, or the like. So… why is it then that right-wing and "libertarian" supporters want to dismantle everything in government EXCEPT for the police state, military, and prisons?

I thought it was priceless when Nick, pretty well known actor, says that his brother who works in craft brewing is king of the family. I’m from the next town over from Minnoka. You’re brother wouldn’t happen to work for “Werk Force” brewing in Plainfield? “Formerly Known As” IPA is friggin awesome! About as good as Three Floyd’s Zombie Dust. Try that Werk Force one if you haven’t.

I love you, Nick, but they're not "getting bad information." They saw & liked the bigoted things Trump did in 2020 & they were gleeful about him doing more of it in 2024.

From the very first question everything felt so calm and like… drinking tea near a lit outdoor fireplace out on a patio, listening to your not crazy, super endearing uncles chat. No hustle. Just warm and slow chatter, and like you just wanna snuggle in a blanket and maybe have a snack and a nap after the conversation slows.
