Yes, it's why media uses Bernays theories to…… Let's say lead folks to be so selfish centered.
I'm being nice.
Film on Films for Action
"Century of Self"
All media is purposefully manipulated to gain money and power for rich people.
We ignore some very negative crimes in our culture because of our bias.
There's nothing positive about abuse of children.
However to get through fighting it, I use positive distraction. Watching birds.
Reading, being off of all media.
I stay positive by realizing that every step, every day, is another opportunity to stop someone harming a child.

Really good video. I, myself, struggle with negativity bias constantly. Mainly when it comes to stressing about my future. There's a lot going on in my life, I'm about to start a new part of my life and instead of focusing on how exciting it is and how needed it is, I want to think about everything that could possibly go wrong. And I seem to do this about everything. I ignore the good things, obsess over what bad things could happen. Lately, I've made a deliberate effort to stop thinking everything is going to end absolutely horribly. I have tried to find that balance; the balance of not killing myself with negativity (it got to the point where I could not even SLEEP at night, I was so plagued with anxiety and dismay over the things I worried about, I couldn't enjoy anything in my life anymore), but at the same time, not convincing myself everything will be a-okay, so I don't need to do anything whatsoever. I think I'm slowly beginning to find that balance, and it's really, really good. I think I just have this irrational mindset that thinks that to even consider something good could happen to me is nonsense. So when you convince yourself everything is doomed for failure, you lose all motivation. It's not healthy at all.

I worry that people trust other people who are being negative more than people being positive because they fear someone being positive is trying to take them in or con them, plus there's an attitude that if someone's being negative at you, they're being honest. I stuck with a negative, mean-spirited teacher in grad school because I thought "She's so tough and honest, I'll learn a lot from her!" and it was the biggest mistake I made in my life. She was just bitchy, angry, and jealous of her young students starting out in life when she had been boxed into a teaching job she hated. I had a chance to go into another class and I passed it up. I regret it even now.

If you write a list of 5 things good that happen each day, no matter how small, you would be surprised how it can begin to change your outlook. Also if you think of everything you're grateful for in your life every time you brush your teeth, things are suddenly not so bad.

Fuck it, have a HAKO on me. This video has given me some seriously deep things to think about, and I'll probably come back to it a couple times as I think over this subject dude.
Side note, I'm digging the whole featuring people's music at the beginning of videos, it's a really awesome way to promote people without being super in your face with it.

HAKO, I am a strong believer in meditation. Meditation allows you to not control but sort of be less effected by negativity and have more awareness of positive experiences. If this is something you know about how have youvtrued it and what is your opinion on it?

I gotta ask, cause I am mystified, please: I get all the other qualities, but why "assertive"? To reference your own description, how is this quality reflected in the people you like best?

question about the economist study. was that a study where people were offered both positions to choose from or just one?
(basically, were they given the option of choosing the 75,000 vs 100,000 or did they separate them and then just measure the total number of people that would take that job?)
so did they do it where they were told to choose one, and tally which ones people chose, or did they seperate it into two groups, one group being the 75000 job and the other the 100000 job, and then measure individually what amount of people took those jobs, thus they didn't know there were other offers for less or more?
I have heard that people feel a loss more than a gain, but if you willingly know that you have 2 offers on the table do people really choose the lesser option on purpose JUST to avoid the negative aspect?
