Native Bidaské with Our Native Writers on the 100th Anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act

All month long, Native News Online has been commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924–signed on June 2, 1924– also known as the Snyder Act.
On June 2, we produced a stream seen by thousands on the topic that included prominent Native Americans such as Bryan Newland (Bay Mills Indian Community), Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs; Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr. and Shannon Holsey, president of the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe of Mohican.
This week’s episode of Native Bidaské will be a panel discussion with Native American journalists on their thoughts on the 100th anniversary of the Indian Citizenship Act.
Join Levi Rickert, publisher and editor of Native News Online, as he interviews a panel of the Native News Online’s editorial team, Neely Bardwell (Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians), political editor; Kaili Berg (Alutiiq/Sugpiaq Nation), staff reporter; and Kristen Lilya (Bois Forte Band of Chippewa), Native Bidaské producer. Additionally, Chez Oxendine (Lumbee Tribe), a staff reporter from Native News Online’s sister publication, Tribal Business News will be part of the panel discussion.
The panel discussion will deal with dual citizenship, Native Americans who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces at higher levels than any other racial/ethnic group in the country, and Native American voting rights.
Tune in to Native Bidaské LIVE this Friday, June 28th 12 Noon ET on Native News Online’s Facebook, X (Twitter), or YouTube channel.
