You should correct Abbey's behavior even if she is inside her run. She lounged at the corner of her run after the teenage goslings running with the baby.

Great to see the goose rearing her own… with some precautions… keeping them in the coop is great!👍. Look forward to the ducks rearing their ducklings too. Nice that you continue to try new things…

This is why flea/tick prevention is so important. DE isn’t good enough. Their are too many better options to keep our pets safe.

My dad owns ducks and he has seen crows go and fly off with a duckling. He also said that seagulls will swallow them whole, so yeah, need to be careful with baby birds.

That teenage gosling was actually hissing at Toby for coming too close to them and the baby gosling.🤭🤭 The teens didn't really look afraid of the babies to me at all, they actually looked pretty adorably accepting of them, just a little wary of you and the dog moving toward them at the same time from opposite sides maybe. Lol
It's kind of a shame you can't just let the teenagers have their shelter forever(I don't think it's such a bad thing that they have access to roam wherever if they want but also have a specific yard/shelter space they actually like just sticking close to and returning to whenever they want to just chill or take a rest like that)…but that's the downside I guess of only having so many structures appropriate for certain /tasks/uses. 😅😅🙃🤷♀️ Oh well😁

One year we had one goose hatch out 12 babies. We had to put one in an incubator for a couple hours as the nest queen didn't want to wait for it to be ready.

I think you are right about Abby not being ready yet to guard the D & G. At 4:06 she takes a lunge at the fence & I'm fairly certain she is locked on the baby! Maybe she could she be in charge of the ruminants? Love your farm & content that is both funny & pertinent. Thank you! Ventura, California

Sounds like it's in line with the mortality rate of normal wild birds. Especially waterfowl. There's a reason their broods are so large.

The water seems like it's is a little to high for the goslings to reach. Maybe it's just the camera angle that makes it look that way.

Because it did get very cold maybe you started a little too early with the other geese?
