If you haven't seen it yet on YT, check out the Whitesnake 1983 Germany show. My favorite WS concert footage. Been listening to Whitesnake for 45 years. Yes, even as an American I was listening to them in 1980.

He is one of my favourite singers, especially his work up to about 1987. I really enjoyed his solo albums immediately post DP. I think he should seek out the role of MC for the 2026 Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling competition (he could do a version of Ozzie Man Reviews). He could also DJ appropriate songs for the event, like 'We Wish You Well', 'Ready and Willing', 'Ain't Gonna Cry No More Again' and 'Cheese/Lovehunter'. Think about it Mr Coverdale and then do it!

I'm sure we all wish DC a long, heathy and happy retirement. Having seen him many times over the years, he was a genius for keeping up with the times, yet doing his own thing. He did get criticised for having so many members of the band singing along. But to me, this was an act of genius as Cov was still singing along with the "Whitesnake Choir". Even when his voice was not as it was, it was still him singing and the overall performance still sounded great live. It was a much classier move than back tapes. A class act and hope he grows old disgracefully!

I had the privilege of twice working, albeit briefly, for Whitesnake on UK tours back in the early days – '78 & '79 – the first time Dave 'Duck' Dowle was hitting the skins!
With David's retirement my youth is gone.
"We wish you well" my good man 😁😥

I remember him saying about a year ago, that he will still be making music cause "it's like breathing air" to him but he is done touring. It definitely hurts him retiring but unfortunately it is life. New sub by the way, awesome stuff buddy.

Hey Pete, although i knew it was coming, but i'm a huge fan of David's with Purple, Whitesnake and even Jimmy Page. Liks you i'm gonna miss him. He is a rock star through and through.

Thanks for getting this broadcast out, early. I’m sure others platforms will follow suit, expand and deep-dive into certain periods of David’s career. I first saw David Coverdale at Donington in 1981. I hope David continues a dignified trawl of his catalogue via reissues and remixes.

Farewell Coverdale. A YouTube show from Mr. Coverdale would be nice. Although people slam him for it, i do get a kick out of his posh accent. Since there are 'Snake spinoff bands like Snakecharmer and Company Of Snakes, there should be one build around Dino

Great voice I have enjoyed over the years, And great albums pit out , From Deep Purple with one with Jimmy Page and The Whitesnake lps , I did have the shows to have seen him as saw David with Deep Purple in 76 and Tommy Bolin on guitar. Nazareth opened. Then saw David in 81 be one of the openers with Whitesnake and Jon Lord and Ian Paice being in the band as well. Also with Iron Maiden opening for headliner Judas Priest, Then seeing Whitesnake in 87. Rudy Sarzo on bass Tommy Aldridge on drums Adrian Vandenberg/Vivian Campbell were the twin guitars in the band of Whitesnake and opener for the show was Great White. Great show to both bands. And David in fine singing form at the one venue saw these shows at Hara Arena Dayton. RIP Hara.. Thanks to David and wish him a happy and well deserved retirement. All the best and the music given to everyone.

Saw Whitesnake twice in 87. First opening for the Crue. Then later headlining with Great White opening. And on that show, they did a cover of ZZ Top's Tush & changed the lyrics a bit & called it Tits. But, was hooked and bought every Whitesnake CD since then! Thanks David Coverdale for some of the greatest songs that a teenage boy could relate to – especially the songs about chics!

If there's a musician who is a self made man who "Did it his way" it's David Coverdale. From an unknown applying for the Deep Purple job, turning down Uriah Heep in 1976 (reportedly), going solo, recruiting and discharging who he felt were not the ones who could get him where he wanted, changing gears in 1987, working with Jimmy Page and now retirement. I really admire the guts, self belief not to mention voice, frontmanship and the lot. Thanks for the music, vibes, experience – enjoy your well deserved retirement DC!

There was a brilliant band called Company of snakes back in 90's that was made up of ex whitesnake members like mooney and marsden et al.. it was great to hear some of the older stuff that coverdale dropped.

David Coverdale has no control over this but a full version of Made in Europe should be released. EMI still has the masters from a great show. My personal opinion is that Whitesnake will continue. That is why he made this announcement. I am 65 so my memories of David go back to the 70s growing up in Britain. Thank you David, you are an amazing person 💜

Obnoxious jerk. Never liked him in Purple. His live butchering of Gillan classics were bad and disrespectful. And Whitesnake were mostly crap, baring a song or two. OK voice, I guess.

I hope not the end of recording new material. Deep Purple adapted to Ian Gillans voice and have recorded some great albums and he is still doing it in his 80,s. David Coverdale could do the same and return to the bluesy deeper tones of his voice yes end the touring but come out and do a Starkers in Tokyo set every 6 months or so

I wish him a happy retirement.

As a good blues rock band with Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden in the early days, Whitesnake were absolutely fantastic, I love all of those albums.

I bought "1987" when that came out, I thought it was okay but not as good as the early stuff and I just don't listen to it now because it feels so dated, whereas the Moody/Marsden stuff still feels fresh – I haven't purchased anything newer by Whitesnake.

I did like the Coverdale/Page album – but if I compare Coverdale to Glenn Hughes or Ian Gillan, I think both the other two have put out consistently better material in the latter parts of their careers.

It's kind of like slade without noddy holder, it's not the same, Dave Hill has continued slade for years, then the drummer Don Powell put out his own version, but at least they were original Slade members, but it's not the same without Noddy,
