I would love to have seen a 'John Jacobs & the Power Team' variant, where Joel explodes a water bottle with the power of his lungs and then rips a phone book in half. Feats of incredible strength always motivate me to be a better citizen.

Or maybe a tragic pantomime set to "Total Eclipse of the Heart" about the dangers of drunk driving.

i remember this 30 yo guy in a hoodie was telling a really sad story, and the kids in the audience started interrupting with rapturous applause breaks. we held the poor guy hostage as he recounted traumatic events and everyone kept cheering when he would describe terrible things. he started confident, he was giving a speech about how he’d overcome everything and shown adversity, but i could see emotional doubt in his eyes by the end. i think about it a lot.

One time an old woman visited us in seventh grade.
She told a story about her and her relatives being so cold they had to urinate all over their hands!! Lol What a loser!

Anyway,I think it was about like viet nam or WwII or something. I just remember something about a fireplace or chimney.

I got called out in every single motivation assembly or speech we had. I didn’t like do anything someone told me I didn’t know. They tried to get everyone to dance to show you shouldn’t care what others think? I didn’t, and they called me out and had everyone judge me for not doing what everyone else was doing. Depressed and had a fight with gf, black speaker calls me out slouched in my chair ‘I guess this guy doesn’t like black people’ . they would literally do to me what happened to them, in an attempt to get me to pay attention. So I learned early adults suck even the ones that want to help you’

We once had someone end their talk by telling us we should sign a contract as soon as we were 17 that meant we’d be legally obliged to do at least one tour of duty in the military as soon as we finished university, but they’d pay for university fees.

Someone in the hall threw a shoe at her and got suspended for three days.

I once had a speaker ramble about 'aptitude vs altitude' for 40 minutes and then try and make is sign abstinence agreements and said some homophobic stuff. The worst part was that it was supposed to be a talk for black history month! She did not come back.

This makes me want to die.. i can feel the 30 minutes of waiting in the auditorium for them to set up the equipment, and then they'll talk about why you need to graduate and get a degree or drugs bad, you always think it's better to be there than class until you're sitting there for an hour listening to some dude tell his life story.
