Lost Dog Street Band, “War Inside of Me,” // GemsOnVHS™
Benjamin, Ashley and Shannon (from the Teardrop Trio days) stopped by the GemsOnVHS headquarters to record some new songs. Here is the new Lost Dog Street Band one – the one that will be on their newest record set to come out in March of 2019. Benjamin explains here some of the themes behind the writing of it as well – his own personal growth coming through in the songs. They’re out on tour with the Devil Makes Three again as I type this, and Ben has a new solo record planning now. It’s crazy to see them do so many great things, and it couldn’t be to a more well deserving band.

I just lost my family to crystal meth, my ex is so lost in it and I know her pain from years I spent trying to kill myself with heroin before she saved me, and I don't know how to repay her that kindness 🫤

The war inside of us cannot kill the fallible men we all are. Everything in this life we are able to accomplish is vanity and we are all vain. Your music, beautiful and thoughtfully written as it is, just proves that there is need for something we don't and can't possess. I love your music even though it is all very stuck in your addiction, somewhat depressing, almost never providing a solution. Faith in God however you choose to see him/it is the only salvation. To really free yourself of anything don't you have to give it away and put it onto someone or something else? Why would our worries, woes and addictions be any different?

6 years and I'm still here and this will still be the song.I will have played at my funeral. Kidney and heart failure. This song makes me keep pushing every day. I play it everyday to motivate myself to go to dialysis and procedures. Thank you Ben for being vulnerable to us to release this.

4/29/2025. Been leaning on this song for a while now. His and many other artists songs remind me we are not alone. We all share more in common than politics and elitist opinions may force on us. We share many hardships even though we are miles apart. But we're not alone.

I like this guy's music. I know how he feels, I'm a recovering heroin addict. Only thing that truly saved me was Jesus Christ.. I don't mean to be preachy, but he got me clean, and saved me from death multiple times. When I first felt the love of God enter into me by the holy Spirit, I fell down and wept. Id never known such love. He loves all of you, and is waiting for you to come home. He's not a distant deity judging you on everything you do. He's a father that understands us after coming to this earth and dying for us. He can pull you out of that pit your in if you seriously seek him. God bless ya'll
