Lost Dog street band, “Odea,” // GemsOnVHS™

GemsOnVHS | April 30, 2026

After this video at their friend’s house in Old Hickory outside of Nashville, TN, Lost Dog street band parted ways for a bit. Benjamin went on to record his solo project, and Ashley to South Dakota to unwind for a bit. These were uncertain times indeed, but all is well that ends well and everyone came back with a passion. This is a very special moment in history, and i’m glad we caught it. The song is actually about another friend of Ben’s – maybe you can deduce the mystery.

really cant thank Anthony and Mr Todd enough, it truly is pain that brings us together and left to that alone it can consume us. Like so many others your words and music has brought me from the darnkess to a light i never thought id realize. Your words "Live in truth" ring through my head daily and it has brought me back to my faith and believing in living a life i never thought id be worthy of. God bless you and Miss Ashley Mae for giving all of us lost dogs a chance to be found

It's truly impressive how you're able to make such raw, deep, and difficult painful things sound so damn beautiful. Most people aren't able to be so completely honest with themselves about there mistakes and short comings In life, and your over here with your bloody heart ripped out of your chest still beating in your hand and letting the whole world watch . Thank you for putting words to the feelings that I never knew how to talk about, you have helped me be real with myself about my closest of demons I've been hiding from myself and the rest of the world

I know this song is old, but this song hits unbelievably hard, I lost my one of my good friends to suicide, the last time we talked was in the winter and everytime I listen to this song I just can’t stop crying. Thank you for such a masterpiece

You gotta be kidding. A friend of mine were hitchhiking from N.D. to Los Angeles in January, 1979. Cold, broke and hungry, we arrived in Greeley, Colorado. He was 18 and I was 15 but I had miles behind me by then and he had never been away from home. I remember it was the 29th, the day john lennon was shot. Well, that is a cold time of year to sleep on the ground so I found entry into a church drop-off for furniture to sleep for the night. The next morning he said he had enough and off he went. I went on.

Absolutely love how sometimes, and it may be meaningful I'm not sure, incorporates almost the sound of train whistles into his singing when he holds notes. In the chorus of this song he does it just about every time almost mocking the sounds of different train whistles before he says I'll see you on down the line. I have always been strangely moved by the sounds of old steam trains. One of the trains they use at Dollywood especially with its long and somber bellows on cold nights. It's almost an iconic sound of the mountains and travelers. So sad yet so enchanting.
